Won’t be coming back (Vegetarian friends, take note too!) – First off, the restaurant has been open for a while, yet the information on Google Maps is completely wrong. This is not MIK 10 (the real one is on Hueilai Rd). Many of the 5-star reviews here are actually for MIK 10. I made a group reservation through the map listing and only realized I had booked the wrong place after arriving. == Two foreign chefs in the kitchen, one Taiwanese server in the front — there seemed to be a serious language barrier between them. We were there to celebrate a birthday, with both vegan and non-vegetarian guests. The restaurant had clear vegetarian labels on the sign and menu, but when we asked, the server admitted many of the labels were wrong (?????). Fine, labeling mistakes happen. I just asked which dishes could be made fully vegan. The server couldn’t confirm anything, but confidently said they would check with the kitchen (and I naively believed they had the language skills to do so). As a result, we ordered a “vegan burrito” and “vegan vegetable curry” — both came out non-vegan. When I brought this up, the server casually replied, “Oh yeah, that has milk,” and “Oh right, there’s cheese inside,” then just stood there. No apology, no effort to fix it. She even started flipping through the menu and told me the only vegan item on my table was the roti. (Thanks :)) I had to leave the table multiple times during the meal to handle the situation myself. In the end, I went to the kitchen and spoke directly with the chef to get the food remade. They also told us that the whole wheat flatbreads were vegan, but when the layered whole wheat one came out — clearly not. Found a hair in the turmeric rice. When we told the counter, they just said “Oh” — and that was it. No follow-up, no solution. And on top of all this, they still charged a service fee. There was no notice about the service charge on the menu or anywhere in the restaurant. Just a reminder: According to Taiwan’s consumer protection laws, if a service fee is not clearly disclosed in advance, it cannot be legally charged. I’ve reported the issue and am waiting for a response. Will file a formal complaint if necessary.
— We were trying to celebrate my mom’s birthday and thought we’d try a place that looked promising and had good reviews. Huge regret. Most of those positive reviews are likely for the other location. This restaurant group has several vegetarian branches in Taipei — is it really that hard to label things correctly and train staff to handle issues properly? For a brand with over 10 locations across Taiwan, this level of service is unacceptable.
I get that staffing is tough these days, but basic training should not be optional.
— The one star goes to the chef with curly hair in the back — I had no problem communicating with him directly, and he patiently helped remake several dishes. (He also looked frustrated that the front staff didn’t pass along the messages properly — thank you for...
Read moreI had the business lunch and it was totally a satisfying dining experience. The waiter and the manager were pretty friendly and attentive. And the food quality was quite good considering the price ($ 150-225 for a set, can you imagine!?). Anyway, if you love authentic Indian food, just...
