Quite near to Taipei 101 and can be reached by walking, maybe not for the physically challenged. The Elephant Mountain, as they call it, is such a wonder and a creation of the people of Taiwan that can be described as grandiose. Yes, because they developed a mountain which originally might not interest anyone into a tourist destination with manicured landscape. This is a perfect area for physical exercises without the need for a gym with lots of fresh air and natural vibes. It is quite unbelievable that the people of Taipei loves a green and sustainable environment. they love physical exercise, communing with nature, walking, strolling and be in touch with nature as a daily habit. The walkways and pathways going to the place are superbly clean and organized and the people around are chill and have a welcoming attitude to say hello and respond to questions from a lost and struggling traveller. So I can say that, not only this elephant mountain, but all other tourist spots in Taiwan, that the community and the local people around have a great understanding and welcoming attitude to tourist both from abroad and from their own country. With this, Taipei and Taiwan is a great place to go to whenever there is an opportunity and it is...

The sunset glow from the setting sun ready to go down the mountain Gorgeous night view of Taipei City at night The 180-degree beautiful scenery can all be seen Trails that are not difficult It takes about 15-20 minutes to reach the top Traffic is also very convenient MRT can go directly to Xiangshan Station Or there is a youbike rental station at the foot of the mountain It is also a well-known attraction that many foreigners come to Travellers who want to go up the mountain and wait for the sunset or night view Remember to go to the card slot earlier If you're late, there will be no good place Six Giant Rocks from the photography platform up There must be a bunch of people queuing to take a photo with 101 on holidays By the way, you can observe that 101 has different colors every day It's such a wonderful place located in central Taipei, and the transportation is very convenient by taking the MRT or riding youbike. Everyone can enjoy the 180 degree view of Taipei city, and the sunset and night view are so amazing that lots of foreign tourists will come to visit. BTW, the color of 101 building changes everyday from red to purple as same as the...

A stunning climb even at night! I'm a reasonably fit lady of almost 70 yrs and this climb was definitely worth the effort. It was a quick decision to go after dinner one night in mid Novermber as we knew it could we wet the next evening, so we left about 11:15 pm. I found the hike quite steep, especially as it's almost all steps & I had to stop and catch my breath a number of times but was determined to go on. It is well lit and very well maintained. The night views are absolutely spectacular, and there were only a few others on the track - all much younger than me! I hiked with my son who knows the track well and he suggested we came back on a different trail. That track was also well maintained but not as well lit and I had to use my phone torch a few times. It was equally as enjoyable. It took us about 1.5 hours to complete the hike and was an...

It’s well paved but it’s steps all the way to the top, but there are also stop points to take breathers along the trail. There are a few trails once you reach the first fork, just keep taking the right path and you’ll reach Elephant Mountain. If I’m not wrong, Elephant Mountain is one of the lowest peaks so if you’re looking at the map, look for the spot that’s in the Middle East end of it — not the top because those are other trails. I went in the morning and there were quite a number of people — not too many to be crowded, just enough to tell you you’re on the right path. I’d call the view average but I’m not a fan of city views so — just a short and sweet 30-minute hike (maybe give yourself an 50 minutes to hour if you’re gonna stop for air or photos multiple times).

Well worth the climb but do allow for 2hrs minimum, and take your time, especially if you plan to visit at night, which i don't recommend. You won't be able to do the photo shoots on the rocks and it's too dangerous coming down. Nature light is far more stunning than artifical anyway, so start your descend as soon as the sun sets. Also, avoid going if it rains, even if it were the day before, as the steps can be slippery. Oh, and don't forget to bring bug spray or cover your exposed parts, else you'll be scratching yourself silly once you reached the top. Do push yourself to reach the 3rd and highest platform, it's worth it! If you like temples, then I'd suggest you allow for extra 20 min and make a little detour on your way up.
