Everything about our experience at the Prince Palace was horrendous.|Check-in was rude and impersonal. They asked for a cash deposit and made me take out money for it.|The hotel is huge and it's a hike to get to the room. We quickly noticed that Tower D was the short straw, but we were told that's where all the family suites are located. As we made our way through corridors with old furniture, we moved further and further away from the somewhat outdated but still pretty impressive lobby of the hotel. We saw random bits of lost swimwear draped across chairs and bits of rubbish under tables, and started bracing ourselves for a "basic" room.|But none of these red flags could prepare us for the **hole they sent us to.|The photos say it all. The biggest issue was the dirt. Blood smears on the wall of the bathroom. Brown dried in drops on the toilet seat, pubic hair, etc. We immediately called housekeeping and requested the bathroom to be cleaned. After calling a second time, someone eventually arrived.|The person hosed down the room superficially and used a white hotel towel (!!!??) to roughly dry it out.|Some hair was removed that way and the brown stain on the toilet seat was gone at least. The same towel was used for wiping the floor, sink and toilet etc. |After seeing that, we were not too keen on using the towels provided by the hotel 🤮. Towels were also completely frayed at the edges.|The smeared blood on the wall was still there. We saw evidence that the walls never get cleaned, because the original tiles still had measurements from construction written on them with pencil that rubbed off as soon as we touched them. Based on the extremely outdated decor we're talking minimum 20 years, probably more.|I don't know what they did to the old wooden floor, but it was so slippy, even in bare feet, that it was like an ice rink. My husband fell and hurt his back and my daughter's feet went from under her when she got up from the bed and she bruised her coccyx and was in agony. |We had multiple other near misses, too, and were lucky not to split our head open as there are sharp corners everywhere in the tiny rooms ("family suite" is not what I would call this collection of broom cupboards).|We had to wait for ages to finally get our luggage brought up.|There is a tiny balcony, but all the windows were locked. The view over the Bangkok skyline could have been ok, but the windows were so dirty that you couldn't really see out.|To add insult to injury, when you turn on the television, a fancy hotel ad is played on repeat, showing you a very different experience. This honestly felt like a kick in the teeth as I sat watching it in disbelief from the tattered couch (well you can't really sit on it, you fall into it as it's so saggy and uncomfortable). Luckily the TV was so dirty the video was quite blurry as a result.|I would encourage you to also look at the photo of our view from the bedroom window 😳. The insulation on the pipes out there was completely eaten away by rats (photo also included).|There was something stuck on one of the door frames. Maybe chewing gum? We didn't touch it, but photo included.|Because we arrived late and were tired, and we discovered when we wandered around that there were no restaurants nearby (surrounding area is not nice in the evening), we ordered room service. Big mistake.|What you get delivered is a paper bag with plastic containers and plastic cutlery.|Food was edible and we were desperate enough to eat it at that stage. We didn't get sick from it - I guess that's something.|Of course we immediately got to work to get ourselves out of this hellhole and there are perfectly lovely hotels available in Bangkok at a similar price. When we arrived at the next hotel.we felt like we were finally back in reality. How this place is still open is beyond me. The room we were given should be shut down and the key thrown away. I feel for the poor unfortunates who land there after us.|The manager was very apologetic and offered us a nicer room (I assume it's a spiel she has perfected by now).|After what we saw, there was no way we would stay. |I read some reviews before we arrived, saw the red flags and told myself that it's probably some fussy people, given there are also positive reviews.|Don't make our mistake and cancel the booking while you still can!|We are perfectly ok with a basic room and really don't need much, and we are easygoing people and don't normally complain.|But this place does not deserve anybody's money. Take my advice and...
Read moreWe recently stayed at The Prince Palace Hotel and was disappointed by the unacceptable behaviors allowed here and mismanagement of the property.
The hotel’s in-house taxi and car service (KK Tour & Car Service) attempted to deliberately overcharge and mislead us when we booked a private driver to take us to the Floating Market, which is entirely unprofessional and unacceptable behavior from a service officially affiliated with the hotel. After reporting this to the front desk staff, the taxi and car service was operating as normal the next day with no consequences nor any follow-up after the staff “reported the incident to management.”
Additionally, the internet connection in the room was consistently unreliable and unable to connect, making it difficult to perform even basic online tasks on our phones. At first it wasn’t working at all, and I wasted time working with the front desk and IT to get internet access just to connect to their network for it not to work in the room. For such a big hotel, it’s strange they don’t have a business center or work station. I had to work outside our hotel room because the Internet only worked closer to the lobby. Also, a lot of the outlets were janky or did not work.
Furthermore, one of our rooms in the 3-bedroom suite had a severe air conditioning leak that resulted in a wet puddle on the bed every day/night. One of the bathroom floors would be soaking wet every time someone took a shower despite wiping it multiple times and laying towels down.
Building D of the hotel is terrible. It was infested with cockroaches. I should have known when I saw them spraying around the area on Day 1 of our check-in. Also, the air conditioning in the hallways of Building D were not functioning, creating an uncomfortable environment for us and other guests staying in that building. Building D pool was also closed the entire duration of our stay here.
To make matters worse, the hotel set up tables for an event directly in pathway of a main walkway used by guests to access the elevator to their rooms and in the other main hallway, without providing any prior notice or offering alternative paths/solutions/inconveniences. This was very unprofessional and demonstrated a clear disregard for guest experience.
Inconveniences—No ramp for luggages and it was raining outside. Either have to carry up a flight of stairs or go in the rain for the ramp. Key card stopped working even though we got late check out, got locked in the fire escape stairwell with no service because they lock all the exit doors.
The highlights of this hotel were the cleaning staff were kind.
Overall, this property is poorly managed, very dated, inadequately maintained, and lacks the basic customer service expected of any reputable hotel. I do not recommend staying here until these serious issues are properly addressed.
We hired a private driver from KK Tour & Car Service (located inside the building of Prince Palace Hotel on the first floor entrance) and it was a terrible experience. Stay away from these scammers. The driver took us to an undisclosed location about 3.8km away from the Damnoen Saduak Floating River. We even instructed our driver to take us to the actual location and follow our Google Maps GPS/directions, but he initially refused. He was stubborn and pushy about us using the services at this undisclosed location. Later we found out he gets commission for when tourist fall for this overpriced scam that isn’t even the Floating Market. We couldn’t believe the hotel allows this kind of behavior scamming people in their lower lobby entrance. From the look on the staffs face if we were to make an assumption, it seems they already knew of this scam operation. They said they’d report this to management but we never heard anything back from the hotel.
Do not use KK Tour...
Read moreMy group booked 2 rooms but when checked in they gave us the 3 bedroom suite, which is a delightful upgrade. The room itself is spacious! It felt more like an apartment as it has 2 toilets, living room, kitchen area, 3 rooms including a HUGE master bedroom. The interior is dated in design but eh, its not that important. Sadly our unit doesn't come with ironing equipment as there's a notice that it might spark an outage. So keep note about that.
The master bedroom shower in my unit is also kinda wonky, its either you shower in lava hot water or ice cold water because there is no in between. But other than these minor flaws, its a wonderful stay. Love the beds and its very clean. All rooms has closets so its very helpful.
The best thing about this hotel is the breakfast. Oh boy it is amazing. Bread spread is great, egg section is always on demand, even have lunch food like rice and stir fry meats and veggies. I usually stay in budget hotels where we only get cereals and toast, so it blew my mind on how good the breakfast is for the price. I see a lot of western families at the breakfast, and they always have an pleasant expressions as they enjoyed it.
Lobby toilets, gym (huge!), smoking areas, pool areas (this place has 2 floor with different pool area), the view, the service, everything is amazing and i have no complaints. Thank you so much to all the hardworking staffs for all your hardwork maintaining the cleanliness of the buildings because it is indeed very clean. It has so many empty spaces and lounging areas with the way the hotel is structured, and many of them have chairs and decos, the thing is i have seen no one hanging out in those areas but yet they are so clean! Much cheers to the workers.
The hotel structure is a little weird though, as the check in area is not the ground floor like most hotels are, but is on the same floor as the pool. And rooms are scattered within different towers which the only way is to go through the pool floor. It sounds confusing here while i type it but you'll get used to it very fast once you're there.
The hotel has a 7 eleven right below it, its 24 hours so its very convenient. Taxi is easy to get by using Grab. It is very close to the local river boat transport as well. But it is not close to a train station. We would just call Grab or use the boat ride to another area to ride a train.
Bangkok is infamously known for its traffic jam. And it is very true. I would advise you to avoid the peak hours if getting a taxi to go to your destination. Especially tourist heavy area like iconsiam or the malls area! It can take up to 2 hours just to go to a mall or back from.
Anyway to end this review, had an amazing time at Prince Palace Hotel. If you're looking for a hotel with an amazing breakfast with the best...
