Nang Loeng Market, a century-old gem nestled in the heart of Bangkok, offers a captivating glimpse into the city's rich history and culinary heritage. Established in 1900 during the reign of King Rama V, it stands as Thailand's first land market, boasting a fascinating blend of traditional and modern elements. As you wander through its labyrinthine alleys, you'll encounter a vibrant tapestry of sights, sounds, and scents. The market's historic shophouses, adorned with intricate architectural details, house a diverse array of stalls selling everything from fresh produce and exotic spices to handcrafted souvenirs and delectable street food. Nang Loeng is renowned for its mouthwatering culinary offerings, particularly its traditional Thai desserts. Indulge in the delicate flavors of Khanom Chan, a colorful layered dessert, or savor the creamy sweetness of Khanom Lod Chong, a refreshing coconut milk dessert. The market also houses several iconic eateries serving up timeless dishes like beef noodle soup and roasted duck. Beyond its culinary delights, Nang Loeng offers a glimpse into the past with its historic landmarks, including the Sala Chaloem Thani, a former cinema that now stands as a testament to the area's cultural heritage.

From a foreigner's perspective, this is a local market so you can't expect too much English language support. Some of the food stalls have English but sometimes it's only for part of the menu, not all. Everything can be translated with Google though and it's all is clearly priced. I went at about 2pm and most of the food places had packed up for the afternoon, though there were still enough open for a good selection. It seems they operate at the main peak mealtimes. Since it's a local market, the prices aren't inflated and the food is arguably better than the more popular markets.

Come for the food market, but also stay to wonder around this old town district with lots of charm and history - including the Sala Chalerm Thani cinema - Thailand’s oldest wooden cinema, which dates back to 1918. Like its neighborhood there’s a cool, friendly community vibe in the market that has plenty of Thai food options and fruit, produce, and meat stalls. Compared to other places, Nang Leong is also clean, airy, very well priced, and has quite a few tables for dining. Pro tip come for an early lunch and then enjoy a coffee or desert at nearby cafes.

Old market with dessert Large selection of dishes I like eating dwarf noodles. It should be named Suvimol if I remember correctly Before selling in the market entrance alley Now move inside Nearby there is chicken rice and pork leg rice next to each other. Another deposit of the food court There is a la carte shop, I can't remember the name. Next to the restaurant Tasty topping. Smell the fried noodles Stir-fried with drunken taste is good, very spicy, the price is 40-50 baht, but full of value. A nearby old coffee shop, I like to enjoy the soft, not too sweet iced tea. The price is 15-20 baht per glass. Around the food court, there are rice shops, dessert shops, and Nang Loeng's famous noodle shop. People who drive by themselves can park on the road opposite the market, charge a parking fee of 10 baht per hour, until the BMA comes to collect it. But can park from what time must check again On the side of the parking lot, there is a restaurant with Jib Ki Roasted Duck. There is grilled pork in front of the store. It's delicious. A lot of delicious products in this area There are large buns, priced at 20 baht each, located on Paniang Road near Sommanat Temple. One child is full. Other stores that were not written about because some of them have just opened Or I never stop to eat Anyone passing by Nang Loeng area can try to stop and try. I am familiar because I've been behind the Ratchadamnoen Stadium for almost thirty years. It has begun to change over time. I...

We had an amazing experience with this tour. Nut & crew knew so much about old Bangkok & the origins of foods like pad thai. The canal boat ride was fantastic - didn't even know we could do that! We visited a fantastic old town market, trying curries, pork, duck, noodles, pandan jelly, fried radish - coconut everything. We got to try the original sriracha! The tour was well paced with small bites along the way so we never got too full. Everything we tried except for the curries at the end and mung bean dessert - were completely new. Everything was delicious, except our American palates were not super fond of the mung bean dessert! Some of the foods were spicy but most weren't. You will get your money's worth + snacks to take home. If anything it went by a little over time so if you're on a schedule say something! We got to meet locals in the...
