Facilities and most staff were great but we had an interaction with one staff member which was so horrible and hostile that I'm sorry we are unable to rate any higher than 1/5. The staff member I'm referring to is a concierge by the name of Chow; I requested a taxi to the airport after checking out and he told me the price was 600thb - more than double the amount we paid to take the exact same trip here in the first place. When I asked why this was, and told him that it was less than 250thb to get here he became very angry and told us that was the price we pay. After I said no thanks, I will order my own metered taxi he became even more hostile and nasty to us. Once my taxi arrived before leaving I tried to talk with him and shake his hand to reassure there were no hard feelings, and he simply pretended I was invisible, and completely ignored me talking with him and my outstretched hand. I have NEVER encountered such disrespect and open hostility in all of thailand, not even from the small guest houses let alone such a highly rated hotel. This is the height of disrespect in my (and most western) culture, and he is very lucky that he was not working in NZ when he did this as such an insult to respectful customers would be considered grounds for immediate dismissal. Unfortunate that the rest of staff were let down by Chow as everyone else were extremely friendly and lovely, and I wish you the best of luck getting returning guests with a concierge who is so hostile, and openly trying to scam unsuspecting guests - he is the first and last impression that Royal Princess has to make with guests, and I don't think it wise to leave that responsibility to him. While Chow is still in employment, we will definitely not be returning. Many thanks to all other staff who made our stay wonderful, and I'm sorry to have to write such a...

I stayed at the Royal Princess for 5 days and had a very pleasant experience. The staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfast is exquisite (Thai and Western options, all tasty), and the rooms are well furnished. The swimming pool is great, although I found that they do not serve drinks there (or am mistaken?).|The location is good, not quite central to the central city but right between chinatown, the central city's east bank and the eastern cultural district. Everything is about 30-45 minutes away, so a 200 baht tuc tuc or Grab ride will get you there swiftly. Alternatively I found myself covering many areas by walking, just to see the sights and breathe the city's ambiance.|The room is well equipped with coffee, a fridge (no minibar), 24 hour phone / reception service, strong wifi signal, good air conditioning and a TV with both Thai and Western channels. A few things were less up to par, such as low water pressure for the hot tap in the shower and the hardness of the bed and pillow. The latter is more a matter of preference, I still slept very well.|The restaurant and breakfast have excellent options, naturally a bit more pricey than street food but great quality, both in the Thai dishes and an American hamburger. I would...

The hotel is easily accessible from the airport via a direct bus or taxi. Right in front of the hotel, there are stops for numerous bus lines heading in all directions of the city. The surrounding area is safe. The hotel is luxurious and modern, with marble everywhere and beautiful dark wood furnishings. The room I stayed in was very large (30 square meters), on the top floor, with a magnificent view of the city. The bed was comfortable. There was a minibar that was restocked daily with complimentary bottles of mineral water. A safe was also available. The bathroom had several amenity kits with excellent products. There was also a TV with some satellite channels. The breakfast served by the hotel is excellent, with a selection of fresh tropical fruit, as well as high-quality continental breakfast items and delicious French pastries. There was a station for made-to-order omelets and scrambled eggs. Excellent Asian dishes were also available. There aren’t many restaurants in the area, but the hotel itself has a great restaurant offering international dishes, Asian cuisine, and pizzas. The service is excellent, though a bit slow....

We stayed at this hotel in 2006 & decided to stay here again. What a disappointment this time! The outside is totaly deteriorated except for the beautiful trees. The lobby looked luxurious but there was absolutely no atmosphere. The children had a swim in the pool which was quite nice looking but also needs a renovation. The sun beds were old & it was overall grubby. We got two garden looking double rooms with a connecting door but the worst thing was the disgusting old carpet in the rooms (and also the passageway to the rooms). It was horribly dirty & the room had a strange smell because of it. The room looked quite clean but because of the carpet & old recliner I didn't feel comfortable at all & couldn't help wondering how old the mattress was. I was glad to be out of there after our short stopover before heading home. Also there is nothing interesting in walking distance a Taxi/Grab is always needed to get around. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this at hotel at all!!

The rooms were really nice. Big and spacious with strong wifi. That was great because we were working here. There is a nice desk and chair as well. The bathroom was clean but a bit small. Stocked with hotel amenities like bath gel and shampoo. The curtains were not very good in our room and didn’t keep the light out very well. The location was my main issue. Not many places to eat immediately around and not close to the BTS. That said it is a nice neighbourhood away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas but close enough to get there easily with grab. This place is close to the United Nations building and Rajadamnern stadium. I saw a lot of people staying here who seemed to be on business. There is a 7 eleven right opposite which is very convenient. A great hotel, good value for money and kind staff!
