I made the mistake of visiting this zoo while I was in Koh Samui thinking the animals would be well taken care of like our ones in Australia. Upon entering the section with the cats it was disturbing to see the environment these poor animals were kept captive in. Majority cement and barely any shade. They looked malnourished and heavily sedated. It was disturbingly visible that they were not well physically and emotionally. I've been to circus shows and like humans, animals also show characteristics when they enjoy themselves. None of these cats showed that during the show. When it was time for photos with the tiger I noticed a collar around its neck. I mentioned to someone that it maybe a collar that shocks the tiger if it becomes disobedient. When looking back at a recording I had taken, I noticed the tiger yelped after he lunged at the trainer growling. This didn't happen once but many times as different families wanted their photos taken with it. It was obvious the tiger was feeling agitated and becoming aggressive. They did have a donation box but my concern is, if you can't afford to look after and take good care of these animals, then maybe they shouldn't be kept captive to begin with. The one star I have given is for the staff. They were very pleasant...
Read moreHaving seen all the bad reviews, and just a few mildly okay feedback, I had to go and see for myself. Now, let’s get down to business: The experience is horrible, and certainly the worst aquarium on every possible standard. You enter into a dark room, obviously with poor lighting, yet to the extent that the tank is not visible, although, one thing is for sure: The fish, the sharks and the rays don’t look appealing, it all just looks sad in a concrete based tank with zero finishing. I didn’t see any turtles and thank god there were none because I am assuming that there aren’t because I wouldn’t want it to be here, honestly. The leopard look tense when they see people strolling the corridor. I know, it a leopard and your a silly weak human. But, as one who loves animals I saw them in their worst habitat, mood and wellness. The tigers, on the other hand, are more and more depressing. They are a sign of strength, aggression and balance: these were no kings, they were something merely mimicked as tigers but now are broken to the extent you would not say it is fine. DO NOT GO. Trust me it is not worth it, I’ve tried it to double check and now I’m about crawl into a...
Read moreWas nervous to go after mixed reviews, but as the 1 star mostly didn't have photos I figured was mostly internet warriors who hadn't actually been, and maybe the park was ok? Overall, it's fine. By western standards are the enclosures good? No, not at all. But the animals don't seem stressed and looked healthy, they weren't drugged as some reviews state and if meet and greets raise money for conservation of an endangered animal and funds used responsibly, then i am not against in principle. HOWEVER the cubs were too little to be away from Mum, just 4weeks old! I'd have been much happier seeing them with their mum and only let public visit after they get bigger. This needs to be looked into and steps made to lift the park with the current times and ethics, this seems stuck in time.
Other enclosures need revamping, the panther enclosure needed serious updating, no running water and the cat poo swept into the stagnant water, and the poor turtles had 2 in a very small pool. Aquarium waste of space and water murky. Use the land for better care of the cats
