From the pictures of this location, you may think, wow, they hold competition, they have big walls, they have bunch of equipments selling out there, it should be a decent climbing gym. Well, this is no longer the case. We dropped by on 3 Dec, 2022, a Saturday afternoon. We feel something wrong already when we enter the shopping mall, that lots of stores are empty. Take a lift to the 8th floor. A sense of lifelessness. Luckily, the gym is open. But when you are approaching the gym and see through the glass door, they have already removed all the shelves for their goods to be sold. No staff is at the counter at the time. Hit on the bell then a staff shows up. I say we have two in English. Then the staff say nothing. I say can we have a look and then he just open the small gate to let us in. And when we get in the climbing area, I see another 2 staffs playing on their own, and none of them is introducing the place, they don’t even care if we have the ticket to get in, or what is our purpose being here. They keep playing on their own until we have to ask how much for the pass in English, but it turns out that none of them can speak proper English. At that time we have already no mood to climb there. First, 460 baht for 3 hrs of climb is ridiculously expensive in terms of the choices you have in this gym. The climbing gym in Bangkok need around 400 bahts for a lot more choices. Second, no toilet on the 8 floor (closed by the mall). Means you need to go to the floor below by lift to go toilet, which is a total waste of time. And it turns out that you need to pay on 7th floor first then enter the climbing gym but this information is mentioned nowhere until you step into the gym. At last, sorry to say so but to me the staffs are basically coming to their working place for fun.
For the setup there is only a small corner of bouldering and using old school style labeling system. 20 ish routes for high wall and seems there are some good routes but the staffs are occupying an area which take away some.
I would say this gym should still be ‘climable’, if you don’t want to go too far away from the downtown Pattaya and if you happen to run into some more proactive staffs.. Or maybe it’s because of the language barrier? Sorry that I don’t speak fluent Thai, otherwise the staffs could have been more helpful? All in all, I feel sorry to leave this review but I guess this gym is seriously hit by the COVID. Hope the...
Read moreThe only climbing place in pattaya I believe (?). The place is 30 minutes walking from the tourist area. The climbing gym is not that big with about 27 ropes and the walls are about 10 meters high, so pretty small. But it's good enough to get your climbing workout and have fun with friends. The level is mostly for beginners with the highest level being 6c(+). You can top rope after they check that you can belay properly, as well as lead climbing which is nice. The employees were really friendly and belayed me in top rope and lead climb for free, very nice. They also have auto belay machines so that s nice if you come alone. There is a small boulder wall but it's not big at all, so the gym is more for rope climbing. There is also a campus in the back for your workout. The price is a bit high at around 400 bat's (+/- 13€). But this includes a harness and shoes if you don't have them. On weekends, they told me it gets quite busy with lots of kids and you are only allowed to stay for 3 hours, then you have to pay more. I went during the week and it was almost empty, and you can stay until you want without paying more, which is nice. I'd recommend this place if you want to get a fun session with family or friends, and better to come...
Read moreThere is a good selection of auto belay routes, maybe 10 machines so at least 30 routes with a variety of difficulty but I think they are a little soft since I didn't struggle even after not climbing for 3 months. My complaint about this area would be if you look at pictures people posted there is a white line they added to the wall for decoration but it interferes with your climbing, it's not just paint it's indented a couple of mm so I tried standing on it but whatever it's made out of offers no grip even though I was wearing my solutions.
I was also not very comfortable using some of the top holds as they were parallel to or even above the auto in some cases
Don't come here for bouldering the bouldering area is tiny, uses tape to indicate routes and has no grading I couldn't tell what was what so I didn't even try climbing it even though I prefer bouldering.
Maybe this is because I had my own shoes but they didn't ask me to show I knew how to clip in which reflects poorly on there...
