It’s a historical site next to a hotel and a big area of farmland which is quite easily accessible by walk or bike. The name literally means a temple surrounded by elephants (Wat means temple and Chang means elephant). Some of the elephant sculpture got renovated to show the previous look. Highly recommend to visit with a bike (or by...

Our guide on visiting Sukhothai Historical Park ⬇️ Sukhothai was without doubt one of our favorite stops in Thailand. The entire region is dotted with ancient ruins, making it a challenge to decide which ones to visit. Here are our top picks for must-see ‘Wats’ in the area. 𝗪𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 As the centrepiece of Sukhothai, this temple stands out as the area’s most remarkable. Adorned with towering Buddha statues and ancient stupas, it’s easy to stroll among the aged pillars and visualise the greatness of this historical site. 𝗪𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗶 𝗦𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗶 Transformed from a Hindu temple to Buddhist, this unique sanctuary has to be our favourite temple in Sukhothai. The 3 towers are not to be missed! 𝗪𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗶 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗺 The 15-meter-tall Buddha statue appears to gaze at you through the doors of its sanctuary upon entering. This is also the spot where the iconic images of its long, golden fingers can be captured. 𝗪𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗼𝗺 Though not the most impressive temple, we deemed it noteworthy for the encircling chain of elephants around the ancient stupa. Which temple would you visit first? 🤯 . . . . #sukhothai #sukhothaihistoricalpark #visitthailand #temples #historicplaces #mustvisitplace #travelblogger
