Saphan Hin Market — Attraction in Wichit

A small local food market focussing on food, no souvenirs.

There are no tables and chairs. Locals buy takeaways to eat at home.

There are some street food and snacks you can buy and eat as a quick meal. We find a big rock and sit on it. Freshly fried chicken stall is popular. Optional sticky rice to eat with different parts of orange coloured Southern styled chicken.

What bring me to this local food market is the original reciped coconut pudding. See photos.

After getting the queue ticket and wait for about half an hour, I receive my first coconut puddings.

The skin of each one is firm and crispy. The base of the pudding is made of rice and it is the main part of this popular snack.

The coconut milk topping is quickly splashed over the bases. The greyish red charcoals under the heavy iron casted pans make the bases firm and crispy while the creamy topping boils up and moves quickly.

Waiting customers watch the show while waiting patiently with ticket in their hands.

The price is still 20 bahts for one serve of 5 pairs. After May, will be 25 due to increased cost.

You will be asked to choose type of sugar. Brown or white. Use this sugar to pour over the soft topping of each pudding cup.

I can't say this is my favourite coconut pudding. It is very popular with many people though.

What I can say is it is a privilege to see how the original coconut puddings are made.

It's a small local market which is close to the lake and the saphan hin park! I saw more locals there rather than tourists, feeling so good about it! The food price there is cheap as well:)
