Not enough handicap parking. They should verify that the individual assigned to the handicap placard is actually present. My mother is wheelchair chair bound, unable to transfer alone and has a ramp accessible van to go anywhere. She is not independent in any way shape or form. My father can not just drop her off because she falls out of her chair when left alone. Many people park and walk from their cars. Handicap placards have a picture of the individual it is assigned to on the handicap tag. Checking to verify ID helps to avoid abuse of handicap tags. I have heard of people using their families tags to get good parking. For people who are disabled it's not the good parking we need. It's the extra space on the side of the space for wheelchairs and ramps. It's the ramps instead of curbs in the parking lot. ADA compliance should require these spaces to be used appropriately when there are large crowds. Going anywhere with these kinds of needs is difficult. We sat seperate from my family to avoid taking seats other handicap people would need. I just wish everyone was thoughtful about what disability means.
