A Rousing Oktoberfest at Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas — Authentic Brews, Hearty Fare, Unforgettable Atmosphere
Attending Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas for Oktoberfest felt like stepping into an exuberant, well-executed celebration of Bavarian conviviality. From the moment we arrived the room hummed with good-natured energy — communal tables, clinking steins, and a palpable sense of occasion — and the food and beer lived up to the promise.
I started with their signature 1-liter Oktoberfest bier, and it was the evening’s highlight. Special Bavarian hops and malt variations are clearly the artful foundation here: the beer presents a full-bodied malt backbone with a toasty, biscuity sweetness that is perfectly balanced by fresh, subtly fruity hop notes. The interplay between toasted malt and bright hop character delivers the classic “taste of Oktoberfest” — round, drinkable, and dangerously moreish; it’s the kind of lager that invites another pour before you’ve finished the first.
For food I ordered the Riesenbratwurst served with sauerkraut and horseradish. The sausage was satisfyingly substantial — coarse-textured and well-seasoned — with a caramelized casing that yielded savory juices as I sliced through it. The sauerkraut provided a clean, vinous acidity that cut through the richness, while the horseradish added a sharp, peppery lift that kept each bite focused and never cloying.
My friends’ dishes were equally impressive. The Kartoffelpuffer (potato pancakes) arrived crisp and golden-brown, their exterior delivering an audible crunch while the interior remained tender; paired with smoked salmon, the smoky, briny silk of the fish made for an elegant, modern counterpoint to the rustic pancake. The Schnitzelsemmel — a breaded chicken sandwich — showcased a chicken breast fried to a delicate golden brown and presented on a sturdy kaiser roll: simple, honest, and exactly what a Bavarian sandwich should be, with a gratifying contrast between crisp crust and succulent meat.
Service was attentive without being intrusive, and though the evening was lively (as Oktoberfest should be), plates arrived promptly and orders were handled with good humor. If you’re seeking a festive, well-curated Oktoberfest experience in Las Vegas — one that pairs authentic, thoughtfully brewed beer with hearty, expertly executed Bavarian fare — Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas is well worth a...
Read moreTheir food was always meh, but I used to go there for the atmosphere. After forgetting about this place over a year, I gave another try recently. We were a party of 2, ordered Sausage plate with two sides (small pretzel and spatzle), one shared dessert and 2 one-liter beers. And the bill was $150. Seriously? I'm from San Francisco so familiar with high restaurant bills. But in Vegas, for this low quality food?
Let me talk about the food. The Sausage plate came with 4 sausages but it was only 2 different kinds, 2 of each. If you order a Plate, you expect some variety. The two of the sausages were lukewarm, almost cold. The flavor was so flat, not juicy at all. (If you want real German food made from scratch, flavorful sausages, go to Cafe Berlin instead.) Hofbrauhaus can't even make sauerkraut at home that they have to import it. The spatzle comes basically plain pasta with no sauce or anything. So you have to order cheese separately. And it was not good at all. Overall, I felt the quality of food got even further degraded than over a year ago, while the price went up significantly.
The service was not good at all. When we got there, the place was about 20% occupied but they made us to wait because we didn't have a reservation. Then we got seated right in front of the band, passing many empty tables, where the music was so loud. I checked around when leaving, it was still more than half empty. The server was not so friendly, only smiled when we ordered extra items.
Finally, they have only 4 kinds of beer. One light larger, one dark larger, and 2 wheat beers. This might be my personal preference, but I expect a German beer place would have more than 4 selections.
It is quite disappointing and sad because this place can be a really cool place thanks to the nice building / venue. But the core of a restaurant is the food & service. They miserably failed the both and I am...
Read moreWe are honestly quite upset about how that night ended. If I had to rate this place based on the entertainment it would be a 10, with all of those restaurants where people basically just sit at the table and eat in silence I really appreciate some good music and dances. The food was not great and everything is overpriced. The pretzel was not even close to the ones I make and nobody at the table loved the German food probably because they were all able to compare it to the food they ate in Germany BUT again I would still go there for a drink just based on the entertainment if the service was good. The service was the worst . The waitress dropped a glass of water on the floor, bench and one of our the jackets but accidents happens . She also forgot to send my food order in even if I placed immediately with the drinks , with the result that everyone was eating but me. When I mentioned about my order she said " no order was placed " which was not true , I placed it immediately with the drinks. They do NOT split bills , they accepted 2 credit cards per table and we had to calculate ourselves how much to pay each . When she arrived and we told her how we were going to split she grabbed the pen, looked at us in the eyes and said : how much are you going to tip me 18 20 or 22 %? Which again it never happened before , generally a customer can split the bill automatically , pay with a card and then add a tip privately. She said we could otherwise go by the computer and add it there and instead of giving us some tablets to do it ourselves she again looked us in the eyes and in a rude way said "so how much are you going to tip me 18 20 or 22 ??" We ended up giving her 18 not because we wanted, not because we thought she deserved it but because we were almost scared...
