A sandy beach surrounded by sand dunes and amazing views. We visited the beach a few times over the week of our holiday and we took our border collie every time. The beach is so huge that even with other people and dogs on there you don’t feel crowded or hemmed in like other beaches we have visited. No matter where you are on the beach you can see some stunning places such as Lindisfarne or Bamburgh Castle. The wind whips up with it being on the east coast but as long as you wrap up in October you will be fine. The beach was so clean, I have never come across anywhere cleaner than the beaches in Northumberland - our dog absolutely loved the space she had to run after her ball and play in the sea. It was nice to speak to people, both locals and visitors and everyone was friendly - the locals were helpful with their knowledge of the surrounding areas and where to visit. It is not a “shell” beach which surprised me but it is a truly stunning beach. You can pay a minimal amount to park in the castle car park or, you can park for free a little further down and walk over the sand dunes. We actually did both and both occasions gave us a different view from the beach.

Worth a special trip to this unspoilt beach with stunning views, wildlife and castle. Over the dunes from Bamburgh village onto miles of sandy beach with views of the Farne Islands, Bamburgh Castle and Lindisfarne. Acres of open space, blue skies and fresh air on this highlight of Northumbria's heritage coast. This setting was used as a backdrop for the 2015 film of Macbeth with CGI mountains added in! Best beach in Britain. NB No toilets, shops, cafés, amusement arcades, fairgrounds or piers.

One of the most stunning stretch of beach there is in England. Miles of pristine sand with the castle as a backdrop. Very safe for bathing as the rise is shallow for quite a distance. The beach is very clean with minimal litter and there are multiple access points from the dunes. It’s big enough to soak up hundreds of visitors and still not feel too crowded. Photos were taken over a week in August and every day the light was different.

It is a real privilege being a born and bred Geordie still living in Newcastle, and having somewhere as special as the Northumberland coast more or less on our doorstep. We are very, very lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!

As you can imagine I have been to Bambrugh beach many, many times. It somewhere that I dearly love. Although approaching the beach from the north say from Budle bay. Is something I have not done that often.

I have mostly walked from the south from Seahouses which I like for 2 reasons

  1. Before you go onto the beach the view from Seahouses towards Bambrugh, is stunning.
  2. I like the way that Bambrugh castle just appears little by little from behind the dunes.

Of course having the Farne islands just offshore is good as well, If you get the boat from Seahouses to the Farnes ( as they are known locally). It depends on the tide as to how many you can see. If it's out there is 28 islands. If the tide is in then there is only 15

Also walking along the Northumberland coast especially Bambrugh beach at any time of year is special. But in Winter it is something else a photographer's dream it really is. I'll stop now because I could wax lyrical about the Northumberland coast all day and night. It is very,...

Bamburgh Beach is an absolute gem! The beach stretches for miles, offering plenty of space to explore, and the views of Bamburgh Castle perched atop the rocky hill are simply breath-taking. It's the perfect setting for a peaceful stroll, a picnic, or even just to sit back and enjoy the serene surroundings. The beach is also remarkably clean.

What’s also wonderful about Bamburgh Beach is how accessible it is. It’s easy to reach from the village, and the views of the castle in the background create a magical atmosphere. Whether you’re interested in photography, birdwatching, or simply taking in the stunning scenery, Bamburgh Beach has something for everyone. Parking is also not too far from the beach/castle either.

I couldn’t recommend Bamburgh Beach more highly. It’s a peaceful, beautiful spot that offers the perfect combination of relaxation and breathtaking views. I can’t wait to return — definitely a...
