I visited this 'waterpark' today and dare I say I was not pleasantly satisfied.
Upon arrival, staff were very friendly and accommodating helping with your needs. However, when entering the changing rooms I was greeted with a very strong smell of urine. I understand changing rooms are hard to keep clean when busy but I think that this smell of urine was just inexcusable. There was very little spaces to get changed in and lockers available. I think this place is overbooked and far too busy for it to be safe. The actual changing rooms were dirty and there was visible dirt on the floor and within the cubicles, I felt quite uneasy walking barefoot through the changing rooms into the pool area.
The pool was overfilled with people and you could hardly move or do anything without getting kicked and elbowed. The 'wave' pool was nothing spectacular and I wouldn't really call them waves either. The slides were ok but often you had to queue for around 15 minutes. I was particular concerned about the safety of these slides with the height of the people going on them. I did not seen one person check a child's height before allowing them on a slide, nor was there a member of staff watching people measure themselves on the height chart. I think this is extremely unsafe and an accident waiting to happen.
The pool water was immensely dirty and unclean. The water near the top of the slides was so disgusting I felt sick looking at it. I came away scared I'm going to get a verruca!
I think this place needs a huge revamp and a deep clean because the dirty and unhygienic things I saw definitely need acting on. I think the low level of hygiene here is poor given the fact it is a popular location for many people amongst Yorkshire.
I have come away bruised, sore with the anxiety that I may obtain a verruca! I think this place needs to be a bit more aware of these problems and book a little lighter as the amount of people there was just unsafe!
I would not recommend coming here for the above reasons and I will not be returning until they action the hygiene problems and safety problems. The staff here are all friendly and helpful however I think the hygiene problems...
Read moreThis review is aimed towards the SEND Inflatable event - for anyone thinking about attending this event with your SEN child, I would highly advise not to and pick a different location. I booked this event with my family, and our boys who have autism and other sensory needs. My SIL and nephew arrived first but was told that they couldnt enter until all of us were there, this was the first incident which we found frustrating as all of the facilities were on show and expecting any child to wait especially when we have booked was unfair but as I was only a few minutes behind we continued with our visit, on arrival there was already another parent who seemed distressed in regards to socks, I was told on arrival, make sure your child is wearing socks at all times as this is part of our safety regulations, I said I will try and as my son was practically down the stairs we entered into the inflatable area. Straight away my son had taken his socks off due to sensory needs and also the heat as it was over 26 degrees as you can imagine. Several times were we approached by different members of staff asking that my son put his socks on, now as this was a SEND session you would have believed that some "rules" would be understood if they weren't followed, my son wasn't the only one not wearing socks and the other party were faced with the same issue, now this was the biggest issue but along with this i feel as though as they have named this event a SEND event, you would think that there would be certain areas covered, staff for example were clearly not trained nor experienced at all in dealing with SEN children as many of the staff were trying to approach the children to instruct actions. Cleaning spray bottles were left out in the open and easily accessible. Overall it was a bad experience and not somewhere we will be returning to. Even when we asked to speak to the manager to express our concerns they didn't show and we were left...
Read moreRude staff. Unclean facilities. Overcrowded.
I paid £30 for my family to tread water for an hour, as all 3 pools were way too busy. Typical big business mindset. Take as much money as possible with no regard for how awful an experience it makes.
I was rudely demanded to wear shoe coverings on the pool side which I had no problem doing. The only issue was none of the staff were doing so Themselves? If your staff are going to be rude and demanding then they should also follow suit. It’s rather hypocritical.
Then once our session was up (the last session of the day) we were rudely rushed out of the pool into the changing rooms along with the other 200+ people to find that there were no cubicles available so I unfortunately had to dry and dress my kids in a grubby crowded changing room hallway. The best way to solve this would be for BPL and Your Space to reduce the capacity per session. It’s not like they need to be overselling it like they are doing. They are an established company with multiple venues across the country.
In addition we decided to go bowling, which thinking back I should have known was a bad idea. We had to change lanes 2 times due to a “faulty system” and our game was disrupted multiple times with technical issues. (I must add that the poor woman who worked at the bowling lane was very kind and professional. And she seemed to be fed up with the state of the venue and facilities)
All in all it was a very...
