We visited today with family and loved exploring the trees and grass area but unfortunately the ball got stuck in a tree (kids playing football ) we had an exciting adventure wondering how to get it down we tried throwing sticks up into the tree and climbing up the tree (natures climbing frame ….. so much better to explore nature than screen time etc) we were having a super day and lots more fun talking science on how the ball would come out the tree….. then a “karen” came over and tried to publicly humiliate us “excuse me can I ask what you are doing? I work here and you are vandalising the property” ….. she was loud rude and aggressive toward us ….. I explained in a calm manner we were trying to get the ball out of the tree and that we were exploring nature she proceeded to shout at us that we needed to go to reception desk and they would get a ladder….. I said ok and she left still bring aggressive and trying to make us feel humiliated. We searched on google for a phone number but when we called the lovely guy there tried to contact Graham but he was mowing the grass. We didn’t want to leave in case the wind blew it down but was so sad about the situation that we sat and waited for the ball to fall in the wind. We left sharply after this as we didn’t feel welcome in the park despite the fun we had had prior to the awful rude staff member trying to belittle us publicly and we won’t be back as there are loads more places we can have fun with nature for free without being made to feel...
Read moreA great park to relax and slow life back down. Me and my young family have visited dozens of times for walks, kick abouts and coffees with no rush in the world.
The river at the bottom of the parkbis great for a game of poo sticks, it's teeming with life and is complete with a weir, waterfall and a few crossing point to add to a walk.
In the middle of the park is a vast open meadow that provides acres for picnics and games with benches dotted about if you don't fancy bringing a picnic blanket. On one side a trim trail of obstacles adds to activities to try as you walk around.
Towards the top of the park is the magnificent Cannon Hall stately home itself surrounded by beautiful architecture and cultivated formal gardens and flower beds, including an orchard. The trees and bushes just lower than the house provide great low height climbing fun for the kids.
The fairy garden is of great contrast to the formal gardens around the house. Found approximately 100m south east of the house It has recycled architecture from local villages, stone bridges, a pond with mature fish and is a great place for the kids to let the imagination run wild.
As you walk round there's is 3 cafes and kiosks to grab a bite and drink with one offering pedalo hire for the river. Ice cream vans and coffee wagons can be often found when you walk round also.
No doubt we will visit agin very soon. Parking can be difficult at peak times please bare...
