We had a fantastic visit yesterday, there was a guided tour of both upstairs and down telling us all about the history or Maurice Dobson, the house, Darfield and the items in the house.
There's a lovely big tea room in the back serving delicious cakes, tea and coffee, it was exceptionally clean and displays local artists work which are available to buy and the artist changes every month.
I'm not one for museums normally but the guided tour made it very interesting and we will go back to look at things more in depth and visit the lovely tea rooms again.

Read moreThis is a great little museum, free to enter, previously owned by Maurice Dobson who left it to the village on his death. It is staffed by friendly volunteers and has history relating to Maurice and his partner Fred, and the surrounding Darfield area. You can have a guided tour, or look round independently. It also has a lovely tea room serving drinks and home made cakes, a patio to sit and enjoy the sun, and a shop selling items from local crafters such as jewellery and pictures.
