It's quite a big open space, very green, great for picnics, loads of benches, and with some amazingly tall beech and sycamore trees. In the middle of the park is the Dr. Chad Vara CH CBEA garden. Founder of the Samaritans and born in Barton upon Humber. It's very peaceful, pretty and contemplative. Just outside the park is the Baysgarth Sports Centre to the south and from the north side, its a short walk to the High Street.

Visited Baysgarth House within the park. The house was only partially open to visitors but was interesting all the same. The Georgian room was fascinating. The park itself is beautifully kept and is a venue for many public events throughout the year. We were delighted to find a beautiful garden dedicated to Chad Varah (founder of the Samaritans and born in the town). It also encourages you to sit in quiet contemplation.

Great place to stroll. Lots of open space, winding paths. This time year- spring amazing with daffs. There's history to explore with the odd unexpected signs of a bye gone era. Recent months work has been going on to bring new life to Baysgarth House. And there is now a new cafe which also serves ice-cream. There's a new workout area and a playful area to teach kids highway code!

Beautiful park in my home town with Green Flag status. Very accessible to all. Wheelchair/scooter/bike friendly paths all around. Fabulous Chad Varah Garden with lots of sensory plants for quiet reflection. Dog friendly, particularly in the park area behind the leisure centre where many well behaved dogs are often enjoy some off lead socialising and play time. The park houses the leisure centre complete with swimming pool, gym and sports hall. It is also used as a community hub and holds regular blood donation sessions and the diabetic eye screening vans. The library and a museum which is currently closed for refurbishment. It has a children's play area which is due for upgrading in the very near future (plans in place just waiting for funding to be released) There are exercises stations around the park , an outside gym, water station plus dog bowl outside the leisure centre. There is a newly painted children's road area where tots can ride their bikes trikes or scooters etc. Plenty of bins, benches to rest and a few picnic tables. There are three areas within the park to park vehicles plus parking room on Brigg Road. The park houses some great events such as weekly park run, picnic in the park, performance in the park, Barton Carnival, Barton Beer Fest and other community events.

Points for improvement... Children's play park needs updating but as already mentioned plans are afoot. The Town Council are just waiting on already agreed funds being released. Toilets are very rarely open though you can use the toilets in the leisure centre. The park would benefit from a little cafe serving hot and cold drinks, ice cream , cakes and snack meals at family friendly prices complete with toilets to save having to cross to the other side of the park to use the facilities at the...

Always love Baysgarth park, walking around, there's a playground, lots of flora and fauna, there's mistletoe growing in some of the trees and you can see it in winter, there are a variety of birds including thrush and woodpeckers. There's a swimming pool and library, plenty of parking (free) and hopefully the wonderful museum will open again soon. The gardens are well maintained by council staff and also volunteers. There's information in the park about local people like Chad Varah the founder of the Samaritans. There's a cute bowls green. The town of Barton is lovely too, with the pond, great shops and historic buildings, I...

Baysgarth Park has celebrated the Queen's Jubilee in style! We have our annual Carnival this weekend. With a small funfair, plenty of stalls for the kiddies and eateries. Also last night saw the over 18s 90s disco take place. And what a stunning sunset to dance the night away too. Today there has been a dog show with various breeds, some breeds not normally seen on our everyday walk in the park! And some beautiful horses too! A great event and friendly atmosphere with the weather been kind...
