Basing House is a stunning venue, with rustic character that provided the most perfect venue for our wedding. It was exactly what myself and my now husband were looking for. From the first enquiry, Kirstie was absolutely amazing, she went above and beyond to make sure we could have the wedding of our dreams. She was around to help with any questions in the run-up to the wedding, and her and her colleague made sure our day ran smoothly. We loved the fact that this venue was a dry hire, meaning we could access the venue before our big day and decorate it as we wanted to create our perfect wedding space. Not that the barn needs much decorating it is lovely, but being able to add different touches to make it uniquely ours made it feel extra special. Kirstie was so helpful during the set up day and then the pack down day. She really just wants to help couples have their perfect wedding day. We are so grateful for all she did. Our day was perfect and we received so many compliments about how beautiful the venue was. Basing house is the perfect rustic wedding venue, we are so pleased we found this venue and were able to have our dream...
Read moreWe had our wedding here in July and it was absolutely incredible! From our first meeting with Kirstie right the way through to after the day, Kirstie was nothing short of fantastic. She was on hand to answer any questions we had, allowed us to visit the site numerous times and was nothing but professional, approachable and friendly. The day itself ran so smoothly and the whole Basing House team were wonderful and attentive. We had numerous comments about how great the venue was, and the bar was well stocked with everything our guests would need. They allowed us to be flexible so the evening flowed at our own pace and we even received a heartfelt message after the day. Basing House will always have a special place...
Read moreWe took a short walk along the river, and stopped by the entrance. I didn't know a great deal about the history, and was astonished to learn just how big a place it had been, and what an important part in our history it played.
Although we didn't go into see the site, we were able to get some information whilst outside.
The House itself was destroyed during the English Civil War, but at least one of the information boards at the view points outside gives a really good impression of what it may have looked like.
There is also the "bloody barn" a site of massacre that is still intact; and some exhibits that add to the information about the site.
Worth a visit if you have an interest in the history...
