UPDATED REVIEW* Going to leave my honest review as I have now visited twice.
The shop is small with minimal seating area. On arrival you may or may not be greeted so grab a menu and just take a seat. When you’re ready to order your food go to the till. One thing I will comment on because it was an issue for me and my partner on both our visits. When a customer orders their food , please straight away bring out the cutlery , napkins , drinks and sauces because it literally saves time. On both times I visited I was waiting over 5 mins just for cutlery , then you wait another couple mins for your drink to arrive , then another minute for sauces- it’s too much!!! There’s absolutely no reason I should order my food wait 20 mins for it to be ready and still have no drink on my table , no cutlery and no sauces ?? The first time I came there was only one person behind the till so I can let that slide but the second time guys there was about 5 of you standing behind the till and standing around doing nothing , make yourself useful! Engage with customers , bring out the necessities! CLEAN?! Do something!
Now the food is very nice but the portion sizes? Questionable. Maybe for some people they will give you a lot of rice with a SHARING platter but on my experience the portion of rice that was given to me and my partner on our sharing platter for two was actually embarrassing, in fact the next day when we came in to try something new I had gotten the rice box and I can tell you now I had more rice in that box then I did with the platter. The person who plated that that dish literally rationed the rice across the plate and just covered it with the meat , I was disappointed. I’m guessing you’re a new business so there’s room for mistakes but it’s very little things that could make the biggest difference. When you have 5 men standing behind a till doing nothing while customers are waiting for a drink they ordered 20 mins ago make yourself useful! like come on. Also the J20 PLEASE SHAKE IT and when you serve a J20 provide a glass at least! Me as a woman I want to drink from a glass with a straw not the bottle.
Overall I would return because it’s nothing that can’t be fixed. Service is good apart from the waiting.
UPDATED REVIEW* I will never return back to this place , I made it my mistake by ordering again and they have completely disappointed me , claiming they never serve salad with meals unless you pay extra and my photos alone in this review say otherwise , I am not a liar , it’s just salad bro but when you want to disrespect customers because you’re being told something you claim you disagree with is just crazy , £13 on uber eats for some bog standard rice and DRY meat , good...
Read moreShawarma Has a New King - And It’s in Birmingham.
Now, I’ve had my fair share of shawarma over the years - from the gloriously greasy institutions of Manchester to the more refined, spice-balanced gems that make you believe in humanity again. So when a place bills itself as artisan shawarma, it’s got my attention - and a lot to live up to.
You step inside Baroush and it’s immediately clear: this isn’t your average foil-wrapped, kebab stop. Oh no. It’s all sleek creams and moody blacks - the sort of place that looks like it was designed by someone who normally does private jets. It oozes “premium”, despite being roughly the size of a generous wardrobe. Seating? Forget it if you’re rolling in with more than four friends. But that’s fine. This is a takeaway in a tuxedo - a shawarma parlour that’s been through Oxford.
And then… the food.
I ordered the so-called “Gym Box”- essentially a chicken shawarma with salad - and my word. The salad alone was a revelation. Crisp, fresh, delicately dressed, and glistening with olive oil you can actually taste. This wasn’t a side - it was a supporting actor worthy of an Oscar. And the chicken? Beautifully seasoned, tender, and charred just enough to make you believe in fire again.
The price? A frankly ridiculous £5. That’s less than what most people pay for a sad meal deal and a bottle of regret. This was not just value. This was robbery, but the kind where you don’t want to call the police — you want to thank the thief.
Baroush is not just a must-try. It’s a statement. A line in the sand. And dare I say it…
Manchester has finally been dethroned.
Thank you, Baroush. You magnificent,...
Read moreFrom the moment I stepped inside, I was warmly welcomed by the staff and immediately impressed by the modern, clean aesthetic of the restaurant. The décor is stylish and inviting, creating a comfortable atmosphere for dining.
I ordered a platter for three, priced at a very reasonable £24 — excellent value and quality. The selection of meats was fresh, well-seasoned, and grilled to perfection. While the dips complemented the meal nicely, the hummus was slightly more watery than I would have preferred. The chips were a small portion, but considering the value for money, it’s a minor point.
Drinks were a little on the pricier side at £2 per can, but overall, the dining experience was pleasant and satisfying. This is easily one of the most affordable Turkish-style restaurants in the area without compromising on quality.
I would happily return and would rate this place a strong 8 out of 10. Highly recommended for anyone looking for fresh, tasty food at a great price.
Please be aware of parking restrictions, had a parking ticket outside the shop. Next door chicken shop is having parking wars at the expense of customers. When approaching the owner he knew this and said others and himself have had tickets in the past which i found a-bit frustrating not warning customers about which I found a...
