Chickaros Birmingham Hodge Hill — Restaurant in Birmingham

Chikaros Birmingham at Hodge Hill is a pleasant place to dine in. Out of so many options in Birmingham, we chose this, and to be honest, our decision was right, thanks to my niece who suggested this place.

Let's start with ambience they have beautiful setup for dining. We were a group of 11 family members along with kids we were trying to settle down on the ground floor, but then one of the service persons guided us upstairs where there is kid area to play and a very private type seating space especially for family and it was perfect spot for us. Beautiful ambience, clean tables, and very moderate lights, so all of these things were making me feel better at this place. The best part is that usually, when we go to a restaurant where steak and fish are served, there is always a smell from tables or its like in the environment, but this was 1st steak house where I observed air freshener is being sprayed time to time and making environment much better and no smell of steak or fish will be observed. Kudos, for that approach, I think all steak houses should do this.

We all ordered different dishes for ourselves, which included steak, chops, grilled, nachos, etc. Every single thing was delicious, and the quantity was massive. I will say that management has invested a great time in understanding customers, which shows results in their food. Try their steaks they are really good and cooked as per the requirements, which is perfect.

Ariba, such a gem at Chikaros, a true definition of " available but not visble," which is the best quality a service person at a restaurant should have. Many times, you must have observed that waiters are just kept on looking at your table and make you feel uncomfortable while dining, but Ariba was attending us periodically, but she have skills to make customer feel comfortable. Service was prompt and quick. Our huge order took only around 20 mins to prepare and served, and food kept on coming without pause. Not a single miss in order each and every detail we asked for was there on table. All colleagues of Ariba were helpful and acknowledging us while our stay. We were here a whole hour before our food order was taken and another half hour before any drinks arrived. Some of our group ordered the daquiris thinking they had alcohol in them due to the name and inflated price for them and then being in their own section on the drinks menu, it was not explained that they didn't... £7 for a non alcoholic drink is disgusting. The server didn't even know if there was alcohol in them and she had to go ask... saying she only just worked here! The mango fizz soft drink was just like cheap Aldi tropical fizzy drink.

I asked for jugs of iced tap water for the table and was told they don't do that... Later the manager (who also said he only just worked here) said they didn't do tap water because some people had got ill from drinking it! Seriously? What do they wash the salad in and prepare food using? Washing cutlery? Is it safe to wash my hands in after using the toilet?

They tried up selling the chips to their more expensive signature chips and some did, even when asked if they were spicy they were told not very. They were way too spicy. Couldn't taste the lamb on the lamb chops due to the spice.

The regular grilled chicken parmesan was smothered in plastic cheese and was very spicy, when not stated as so on the menu, it said it had a creamy sauce but it wasn't at all. I'm from Middlesbrough where chicken parmos are our regional thing and are nothing like what was served here.

Very few of our party of 16 had good food, it was either too spicy or served cold.

One waitress was chewing gum with her mouth open when serving us, absolutely disgusting behaviour!

I was disappointed with the whole experience and would be very surprised if some of us don't get sick with...

Our visit to Chickaros in Hodge Hill was nothing short of amazing and truly memorable. From the moment we stepped through the door, we felt welcomed and looked after. The manager, Abdullah, greeted us with such warmth and professionalism — it immediately set the stage for what turned out to be one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time.

The service from Sara and Sarina was absolutely outstanding. They were not only polite, courteous, and attentive, but also incredibly friendly and genuine. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and relaxed, and their kindness towards the kids made the whole evening extra special. It’s rare to see staff show so much care, and they really turned what could have been just another meal out into a truly joyful family experience. Our children left with big smiles, which says it all!

And then there’s the food — wow! Every dish we tried was delicious, fresh, and full of flavour. On top of that, the portions were huge, which made it amazing value for money. It’s clear the kitchen takes pride in what they serve, because everything looked and tasted fantastic.

The whole atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and family-friendly, which made us feel at home straight away. Combined with the quick, efficient service and the incredible staff, this really was one of the best family meals we’ve ever had.

We left full, happy, and genuinely impressed. This place isn’t just good — it’s outstanding. We will definitely be back, and we’ll be recommending Chickaros Hodge Hill to all our friends and family. Thank you to Abdullah, Sara, and Sarina for making the...
