A fabulous place to pull up, get out of the car and explore the land. Lots of tracks to follow, places to discover, there’s what the locals call the beach, where 2 rivers meet. You can watch (if you’re lucky enough) the kingfishers flying up and down the river. Plenty of birds to hear, such as nuthatch, goldcrest, chiffchaff and many more. It can be as busy or as peaceful as you want it to be. There’s a park for the younger members of the family, with plenty of equipment on to keep them occupied for some time along with an exercise park for the more health conscious person. Plenty of open space for impromptu football, rounders games, picnics etc.. A wetlands created by local people for local people, where herons, ducks and other such wildlife can sometimes be seen and if you’re lucky enough you might even see a deer or two. We have an owl field where barn owls and their young nest.
There is a community centre near the children’s park if you get caught short, this has a gym within, a dance studio and also hosts the local harriers twice a week. There are plenty of other activities held within the club too, a visit inside will give more information.

Read moreI have grown up just round the corner from leverhulme park. I have really good memories of it from when i was younger. The park where the swings where was really good they had really good things on there for the youngsters to play on. They had swings 2 roundabouts one was like a spiders Web which used to spin around so fast. They had a climbing frame & there used to be 2 concrete tunels. I never really understood what you was supposed to do on them. You could only really go through them or sit on the top of them. I remember all the teenagers used to sit inside them while they were smoking lol. Then there was the running track where most of the time anyone could go on there. I think it's locked up most of the time now & i think you need some sort of pass to get on there now and the park where the rides are is so boring. I think they've ruined more or less all the children's parks now the rides are rubbish. I know that leverhulme is used alot by people walking their dogs and there's a little river if you go right down to the bottom...
