A beautiful marine lake and park separated from the beach by a stunning new promenade. It's very accessible with a pay and display car park at each end. Have been coming here for years and always enjoy my walks around the lake. The paths are well maintained and wheelchair accessible, with ample benches and picnic tables. Interpretation boards give interesting facts about Fairhaven's history and wildlife. The boat trips around the lake and its islands are fun although you don't get a lot of time. It's Β£10 for a 20 minute trip in a motor boat, but for Β£8 you can get 10 minutes longer in a rowing boat or pedalo. I thoroughly recommend a visit to the RSPB Discovery Centre, some interesting displays and a friendly gift shop where you can buy souvenirs and bird seed. The replica of a World War II Spitfire is definitely worth a look. There's also a cafΓ© where you can get cooked meals and snacks, a lovely ice-cream shop, tennis, bowling, adventure golf with miniature Lytham St Annes landmarks, skatepark and children's playground. It gets really busy at weekends and holidays but you can usually find a quiet spot where you can relax and watch the swans, Canada geese and other waterbirds glide past. There's enough here to occupy a family for a few hours. It's well...

Herons, Cranes, Gulls, Ducks, Swans, and so many types of Goose frequent here. Of course, the usual hedgerow birds are also around, along with way too many pigeons.
On a sad note. Plastic, cigarette butts, and litter, absolutely everywhere, on grassy verges, and in the lake. For several months, lots of disposable barbecues and packaging had been dumped. These peoples clearly do not care about wildlife, and the animals habitat. A lot of overflowing bins. Many empty ones, which if people used would not cause the spillage, due to overfilling. Bins are placed close together, and so, a short walk to the next...

Had lunch in the cafe which was nice apart from the fact that the pie was a bit burnt and that the chicken filling was very chewy, other than that it was lovely, which is more than I say for the manager of the cafe. When asked for gravy, the manager rudely said it already has gravy inside the pie and that we didn't need it, even though we wanted it for the chips that came with it. The waitress was really nice though and couldn't be more helpful. Despite the rudeness of the manager, we had a lovely day with beautiful weather and a nice ice cream from their ice...
