A group of 3 of us came here for Sunday lunch. Pub was nice and large and much quite than expected, but still glad we made a reservation! I have to say, overall we had a nice time and the food was tasty. That being said, we ordered 3 roast dinners, which arrived incredibly quickly. Within about 5 minutes of ordering I'd say. Before we'd even had time to try anything we were asked how it all was (we said great) by another staff member. It wasn't until we started eating that we noticed food was missing from all our meals. Menu said we would get roast parsnip, stuffing, crackling and braised red cabbage amongst other things. They were all missing. We ate our meals, as they were good and mentioned the missing items to the staff member who came to take our plates. I dont feel the response we got was adequate. Whilst we got an apology we were also told the same items were missing off the order the table behind us placed. We were offered no explanation why these items were missing. We even said if they weren't available, it would have been nice to have been informed at the point of order. The staff member said they were available. We were not offered anything other than the partially sincere verbal apology (the table behind were offered free mini dessert) and really, at best we would have appreciated the staff member to offer to bring us the stuffing balls to try. We did make a big thing about wanting to try the stuffing due to the unusual flavour, but no. Just an 'oh sorry about that' and then they left with the plates. I think the customer service here definitely could have been better,...
Read moreVisited as wanted to try the 3 course set menu. This is available all day Monday to Friday. 3 courses £17.50 and 2 courses £14.50. You order your food at the bar or you can do so on your phone using the QR code on the table.
Limited choice of starters. Only 3 to choose from. I went with the Calamari and Prawn with Sausage and Mash for my mains and Crumble for dessert. My brother opted to select off the main menu and went with the ribeye Steak at £18.50 with peppercorn sauce at £2.00. I have to say I wasn’t impressed. The calamari was tasteless as was the Tartare Sauce that came with it. The 3 prawns had some flavour but I felt this starter had come straight from the freezer to the microwave. Mains again a disappointment. The sausages had a nice texture but the onion overpowered any other flavours. Mash was nice. And my dessert was again quite bland. Little flavour to it. So all in all I was disappointed.
On the other hand my brother was very impressed with his steak. He said it was one of the nicest pieces of ribeye he had enjoyed for a long time. He really enjoyed it. It’s why I’ve given 3 stars rather than something lower.
Contact with staff was minimal. They basically brought your food over and cleared the plates away. No one at anytime asked us if everything was alright.
There were a few fairly large groups in dining so I would assume it is popular. Maybe I just ordered the wrong food and I got unlucky with what I picked. Maybe I should have given the set menu a miss no matter how good a value it looked on paper and...
Read moreQuite disappointing. Travelled quite a distance to get to Lytham, had a great day out, and ended up in The Fairhaven (I had booked for our group online, based on the Google reviews). We were seated quickly enough, and the pub seemed clean and pleasant. We ordered our food, which turned up promptly enough, and on first viewing seemed okay. We were asked by a member of staff (milliseconds after the food had arrived) if everything was ok and made the fatal mistake of just blurting out "yes" without really checking. It was only when we started tucking in, myself and my party started to notice items that we should have received with our meals (as described on the menu) were not on out plates. Not just one item either, but two or three. we were given no warning things weren’t available, so we were all a bit confused. I also have to say that the mashed potato (in my personal view) had the taste and consistency of playdough. We ate our food (the other items that had turned up were nice enough), but we did raise the issue of the missing items with the member of staff who collected our plates at the end. We got a stumbling, short apology (with no explanation) before she promptly ran off. We sat there for a bit, thinking somebody would come over and explain what was going on, but no. No explanation given to us, at all. In the end, we left rather bemused, very disappointed with the customer service, and all of us pretty certain we won’t...
