Popped in here for lunch on a weekday in late September. The café, which has recently been refurbished, looked very clean and modern, with nice pictures of local scenes on the walls and large windows with lake views. Plenty of outside seating, next to a children's play area. There were also tables inside reserved for people with dogs. The café was more crowded than I'd expected, but I managed to find a table in a sunny window with a great view of the lake towards the Spitfire Memorial. Toilets were clean (you have to enter a keypad number, which is displayed at the counter, to get into them), and there are also some Danfo toilets close to the café. Waiter service was both friendly and efficient. Wide choice of hot beverages, iced tea and coffee, and soft drinks, as well as beer, cider and wine. Bought a can of apple and blackcurrant cider, and it was really refreshing. You can get all-day breakfasts here, and they also do sandwiches, salads and cooked lunches, along with a children's menu. I ordered a ham, cheese and pickle sandwich with a tasty salad garnish, and chips as an extra. The sandwich was lovely, generously filled, very fresh, with thick slices of brown bread. Though a bit pricey, it was a good satisfying lunch. It's worth a visit to this café after a walk around Fairhaven Lake.

Fairhaven lake cafe was exactly what was needed on a very warm June afternoon. I should have taken more pictures but hey, when you are hungry and thirsty and tired from lots of walking ..... well, eating and drinking took precedence. Anyway, the cafe is vey well run and clean. It caters to all age groups and there is some great outside space overlooking the lake itself. There is a play area next door for the younger ones and separate toilet facilities. There is also an ice cream parlour where you can sit outside. Menu wise there is everything from cakes and coffee to main courses. Prices are very reasonable and I have to say the sandwiches we had came with fresh crisp salad and crisps and were substantial and tasty. We also ordered a side of salt and pepper chips. They were excellent, covered with black pepper and salt with crispy skins and served with roasted vegetables. Even sharing we couldn't finish them and at £4;00 ..... worth every penny! You can tell how much we enjoyed them, we took their picture. The whole thing including coffees and bottled water came in under £30:00 which seems very reasonable for what we received. Staff are polite, welcoming and attentive. It was the perfect pitstop.

Not Covid Safe!! Dirty tables so must assume they are not adhering to other Covid requirements. "Everything is more expensive lakeside" should be the theme. Standard food not worth the price. Half menu not offered two hours before closing, was charged chips then told afterwards that they aren't doing chips so had to get cash refund when paid on card. Asked if there was an alternative and was given a very unsure "no". Young blonde till server her attitude seemed to be rather disinterested in being there or providing good customer services. Also spotted a mistake on the menu, not a criticism just given a heads up that you may want to proofread the text. "World Was II".

Ordered drinks and cakes for 4 people. Two cakes were the advertised scones with jam butter and clotted cream. After cutting open the scones we realised we had no clotted cream. Went back to the counter and asked for the cream only to be told they had none left. We were still charged the same price for each scone as if served with the cream. At no point were we informed they had no cream, if we had of been informed regarding this matter we would have chosen a different option. We politely complained and explained we had not been informed there was no cream and we definitely didn't expect to pay the same price. No discount or refund was offered, we were just told its the same price!! This is shocking customer service. It was the fault of the staff for not informing us about the lack of cream and giving us the opportunity to choose something else. It is misleading to offer and charge for food which you don't have, wording needs changing on the advertising to enlighten customers the price is with or without cream, ( trading standards) and customers need to be informed before they pay. It's no use saying sorry when nearly £8.00 has been paid for an item you can't serve. Terrible customer service and attitude, we won't...
