Beware of the jobsworth retired Ski Instructors! 🫡 Very disappointed today after visiting Rossendale for the first time. Whilst taking my daughter on the lowest part of the big slope, I was approached by Debbie a passive aggressive ski Instructor who told me I should be wearing gloves. I excepted this as one of their rules but asked her why she didn't have a helmet on whilst demanding I wear my gloves. She replied that it wasn't in the rules to wear a helmet. So imagine my confusion that gloves are prioritised over helmets?? Graze on the hand vs skull fracture/Brain damage 🤔 Any way she and her fellow jobsworth ski Instructors after being triggered up by my absence of gloves that I'd left at home decided to enforce another rule upon me. I was told I couldn't take my 7 year old daughter up on the button lift with me. Despite us only travelling 10 metres or so up it to use the lower begginer slope. I tried to explain that my daughter isn't quite confident enough yet to use it on her own, so I was just building her upto it, despite her having no trouble skiing. They insisted, so against my will and judgement I let her go on her own. Predictably she fell off, hurt herself, cried and lost confidence on more than one attempt. Eventually after seeing my daughter becoming increasingly worried, I decided they had won and had successfully disillusioned me, and upset my daughter, despite her being brave and having success on her own a couple of times. So after just half an hour and £40 less, I decided to leave never to return. I will add that the place could also do with improvement. The runs were very slow and not at all like snow. The width of track under the button lift could be wider. The button lift itself was too fast for begginers at the start, whiplash levels for a young child like mine.
How could this be resolved?
✅ Review your rules... How can helmets not be worn when you insist on policing gloves? Absolutely ridiculous! How can I not take my 4 stone daughter on the button lift when one adult could weigh more than us both combined and would be fine?
✅ Listen to parents more. I have 25 years ski experience... I know my daughter better than your ski Instructors do. We were quite happy and causing no problem at all to anyone until the Health and Safety at Work Army got involved.
✅ Get shut of the over the hill Instructors. Your job is too empower people, inspire people, bring family's together leaving them with a smile on their face. Leave the...
Read moreWould I go back - NO! 2 stars one for the decent Ninja coffee and the other for the tubing that the kids did enjoy. Reasons I wouldn't return, paid £15 per person to tube for 50 mins paid £75 in total for 5 people, ok not bad for the experience. First problem asked to wait at area 6 for the instructor, which we did 5 minutes pass no one around so husband goes to speak to reception told we must have missed the instructor as it's already started! Taken over only to waste another 5 minutes as there's not enough tubes, husband decides to back out so all the kids can tube. He goes back to reception to explain the issue but it's ok as kids are happy so just wanted a refund. Told NO! Er but there's not enough equipment and he can't tube? Still no refund, asks the policy, isn't one? Asks manager's name to email to sort out later, can't give the managers name 🤷🏻♀️ it's confidential 🤦🏻♀️ quick Google to find his name so not that confidential. Dave Fuller is the manager for anyone interested. The attitude was less than what I'd expect from staff. In relation to charging for a goods/ service which wasn't provided-trading standards comes to mind. Place itself needs a huge upgrade, it's tired, half of lifts not working or broken, slope slow needed sprinklers on. All in all overpaid £15 and had reduced time on slope due to their staffs errors. A written complaint will be made through the correct channels after finding the information on Google! They have lost mine and our...
Read moreAttended an SEN session here via Rossrndale Rays. The slope itself was really great and appropriate for my grandsons needs. I would say in my experience the two members of staff I spoke with at Ski Rossrndale were not very helpful, after me raising concerns I didn't think we were in the correct group. Not only was my grandsons name not on the list we were asked to check, it was a day event and we had a one hour booking. I then asked another member of staff and explained we were there to attend the Rossrndale Rays SEN session and they just looked at me blankly. Turns out we were in the half term group and not in the correct place missing a full 15mins of our session. Someone from RR came and found us and took us to the correct slope. From there on my grandson enjoyed what time was left and the volunteers at Rossrndale Rays...
