Buffer Stops — Restaurant in Borough of Rossendale

A good bar, with reasonable prices & a good choice of beers, although too many dark ones for me (I suspect the manager prefers them?) I've been coming here on & off since it opened, however I am becoming less inclined these days as so often the beers are not to my liking. I suspect this may be a deliberate ploy as I've noticed the beers on the trains have changed yet again too! My fear is that the ELR has adopted a corporate mentality whereby profit and profit alone appears is their mantra? It's only a hunch of course, but as a former regular here management need to realise this is a service industry and both mine & other people's money is also valued elsewhere...Don't say you haven't...

Great place with a fab selection of real ales. Changed management recently. Very hit and miss with the customer service. Most staff are friendly and quick to greet and serve with good knowledge of the ales being served. However one employee is rude, disinterested knows nothing about the drinks she is serving and lacks any kind of customer service training. Will blank customers waiting and argue with them as well as barking orders at customers to "form a straight line to the bar" i would like to add that the staff in general are fab. And its not a one off bad customer service complaint but is consistant with just the one employee who if on duty spoils a decent...

A real ale bar, at Rawtenstall train station. Currently in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2023. The bar area is small, however there is plenty of out door seating to watch the world and trains go by! Well worth visiting via the East Lancashire Railway (A heritage steam and diesel volunteer run railway). "Buffer Stops" is an ideal place to stop off to take refreshment.

Open in the day, but opening hours appear to vary during the day depending on rail services. Always open in the evening.
