Yesterday...Saturday the 16th of September 2023 my family...Mum Dad and my 2 brother's and myself had the most fantastic visit to the DH Lawrence birthplace museum in Eastwood Notts...Our Hosts were James and Alex ( and Alex's little boy ) and they welcomed us with open arms and made the tour so much fun and so entertaining and also so factual about Lawrence and his family and their early lives living in Eastwood and its surroundings....the tour was brilliant value for money and we shall remember it for many years to come...we booked beforehand with lovely james and the tour ran like clockwork...thankyou so much Alex and James...you made our day as a family very very special....Hopefully see you again soon.....Paul , kathy , Joseph , Ruari and Sean Loftus. He was a prolific writer (challenging societal norms and conventions), upsetting the status quo 😀. He was also an artist and contributed just so much in his 45 years of life. The Museum provides a little snippet, an insight into Victorian Industrial Britain, which was a 'hard' existence for the vast majority, with extreme poverty in the communities, whilst the mine/industrial owners languished in enormous wealth. Read moreGreat little museum - free to Broxtowe residents - well worth a visit if you’re a literature geek or even with the kids. Some of the rooms were a little dark (as they were ) so it might be an idea to explain beforehand to little kids.
I went with my 5 and 3 yo boys and whilst they enjoyed exploring - it didn’t hold their interest for long - perhaps mainly due to it being 2 days before Santa!
