Agree completely with all the comments about cleanliness, lovely staff, beautiful surroundings but just want to say a bit about the accessible room we stayed in. None of this is a criticism as the place was lovely and the staff couldn't have been more helpful - more information to help other people that may need adapted accommodation. The access is ramped which you can see in the first photo on the website and there is parking directly outside. The room was very large and wheelchair accessible throughout (though the bathroom door was a bit of a squeeze.) There is a recess alongside the bathroom which was plenty big enough to store the wheelchair, glideabout commode and turner that we took as well as suitcases etc. There is an emergency cord system installed that connects to reception which we didn't have to use. There is a desk that would be OK for a wheelchair user to sit at and everything s reachable (kettle/sockets/heating switches/hairdryer/clothes rail) from wheelchair height. However this is not a fully adapted room, something we were aware of before going. The bed is the standard lower Premier Inn bed so transferring was up and down hill but once in the bed was very comfy. The bathroom is more suited to people with some mobility rather than wheelchair users but was manageable for our two day stay. There are loads of rails but the bathroom has a bath with a shower over so a bath board would be needed which we don't use. The wheelchair fits in the bathroom for a wash at the sink but (unfortunately for us) the toilet is higher than most so we couldn't get the commode over it. There are rails that help transfer on and off the loo but it was harder work as the wheelchair can't fit alongside the loo - again great for someone with some mobility but not for us so much. We managed though, admittedly only there for two nights so a strip wash was fine, The pub for breakfast and dinner is up a very steep slope but there is a wheelchair sized gap in the speedbump. We were feeling strong so didn't use the car but it would be easy enough to drive to the pub even though it is only a couple of hundred yards away if that. The pub has a disabled toilet and the wheelchair fitted under the tables well enough. Overall the room and facilties worked for us and we had a lovely stay. Although we had no cause to call them, I am confident that the staff would have helped out if we had got in a muddle. We would certainly go back...
Read moreAfter all the great reviews, and staying in a newly-decorated Premier Plus on our last visit away, we were a little disappointed by this hotel.
The positives include a very friendly and helpful lady on reception, who sorted out an early check in - though in retrospect, we could have saved the 25% increase of £10 by leaving our belongings in the car, as we went straight out for the day. The location was nice and quiet, and there was plenty of parking. The bed was comfortable, and all linen clean.
The room however, was very tired. There was no comfy place to sit (as shown in the gallery photos for this hotel, just a rather useless upright fan for this time of year). There were stains on the nets and curtains, dead spiders in ceiling corners, and unearthly stains on the desk chair. There was also a horrible smell of drains from the bathroom, which abated after using the shower at night, but had returned by morning. These details were fed back at check-out, and we got an apology…
Sadly, the breakfast at the Brewers Fayre was not the usual buffet choice, and “unlimited” isn’t quite the same if you have to order it in advance. And so, we declined eating the breakfast that we had booked, and left several hours before the allocated check out time. In retrospect, and having highlighted our grievances about the room, we would have expected the £10 early check in to have been reimbursed. We sadly wouldn’t return here if in...
Read moreFirst off, its a Premier Inn. So the rooms are comfortable. The staff are helpful and friendly.
Not quite sure what is going through the minds of Premier Inn's senior management where they have now decided to charge £15 for an early check in. I.e. if you turn up at 2.15pm and check in is 3pm they will try to get you to pay £15. Trouble is, that Premier Inn isn't really a budget hotel any more, if I'm paying £130 for a room with breakfast and dinner, why should I pay another £15 to check in early? Especially when if I was at a Hilton, Marriott, Best Western, etc I wouldn't have to.
Plus the general quality of their food has gone down dramatically, not sure if it is a ploy, but their "Unlimited Breakfast" is made with low quality items that no one would want to spank it. The sausages seem to shrink every time I am in one of these, and taste of disappointment.
The attached eatery being Beefeater, Chef and Brewer, all sell the same stuff, albeit with different names, but all pretty low quality deep fried stuff.
I travel a lot for business, and am now considering on choosing pretty much anything other than Premier Inn as they seem to be pricing themselves out of...
