The pride in their local community shone through in everything that the members of staff did. They gave us a warm welcome, suggested items we would probably interested in, after ascertaining that we came from the North East of England and that there were strong cultural and historical links between us, and they were more than happy to answer various questions that we had and they clearly loved being part of the museum. Read moreAll 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed our visit yesterday, thanks in no small part to the friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. The draw was the Stephenson's steam engine Invicta, where Peter B was excellent at explaining, to the children, the mechanics and physics involved whilst gentle seeing what they already knew of these things. Thank you Peter for the time you spent with us. We also enjoyed the steam car and bicycle sections- once more ably explained by Peter.
