We booked into Let's Go Hydro to camp in the caravan for a weekend so the kids could go to the water park. When we arrived we drove round in circles and couldn't find anything that looked like a camp site. Having eventually found someone to speak to them directed us down a wee windy hill at the top of the carpark to the Spa Car Park. At this time I assumed that we would be directed on through to the camp site, but I was wrong. THE SPA CAR PARK IS THE CAMP SITE (see attached pictures). Could not believe it, the girl checking us in actually had to go and find someone to move their car so we could park our caravan. We could not put up the awning for our dogs as it was gravel. One of the electric plugs on our post did not work, but we eventually got an electric and water hook up. The facilities (if you can call them that) were far away, and unlit at night. They were disgusting, covered in spiders webs bugs, the toilet doors had to be slammed shut so you could even lock them, and the showers had gaps in the tops of the doors, so anyone could come along and watch you showering. We also found out we had paid £40 per night to stay, but our friends who were also staying had only been charged £30 per night. Then next morning, when we sat outside to have a cup of tea, as we always do on a caravaning holiday, a car parked in between us and our friends camper, and we felt so self conscious that we had to move inside. Needless to say, we stayed one night as we had arrived late and the kids were going to the water park the next day. Have contacted Let's Go Hydro and Watersedge Retreat a couple of times to complain and as for a refund, but to date they have not even responded. I have given one star, but only because I could not submit a review with no stars. ALL CARAVANERS AVOID...
Read moreHalloween drive in movie experience - they cancelled Beetlejuice due to rights which is unfortunate but understandably out of their hands. They sent an email to inform people but didn’t make any other attempt to contact ticket holders. In the email they gave the options of the replacement movie, move the tickets to one of the other movie options or a refund. However, the replacement movie was not appropriate for children (Rocky Horrow Show) so we chose to move to the hocus Pocus showing on the same night but 2 hours earlier. I tried ringing multiple times but they have a constant automated message at all times of the day saying their lines are busy and to email, I emailed as requested, with no response, I tried ringing again multiple times and sent a message via Facebook messenger. Someone quickly responded to Facebook messenger confirming the switch to hocus Pocus and advised to bring our original booking confirmation. On the day of the movie, as we were travelling there, we received an email to say that hocus Pocus was in fact fully booked.
Whilst let’s go hydro did offer to change our booking to the next night, this didn’t help with the car load of disappointed children and the fact that the alternative date wasn’t suitable for us. And as previously stated, our booking had been confirmed just 24 hours prior to this.
I appreciate the original reason for moving the show was out of the company’s hands, but their lack of available customer services to help those impacted, move their bookings was very poor and then confirming our booking via Facebook and then cancelling as we made out way is incredibly disappointing.
I have requested a full refund which I hope will be issued in a timely manner given the inconvenience and disappointment...
Read moreWe enjoyed our visit here. We visited for the aqua park only and did not stay overnight or experience any other activities.
Off the water, it felt a very professional set up with purpose built structures and smooth tarmac surfaces to walk on.
On the water it was fun, but a few of the better activities were not open for unknown reasons (such as the slide that turns corners you can see in images). Also, they only let you use half the area for one hour and then move to the other area. This means they save on lifeguard costs but the areas you are allowed in are busier than they would be otherwise.
They provide a cool little beach area, play area and paddle park for small children and any non participants which is good.
We went to both outside water parks in Northern Ireland (the other nearer Coleraine and reviewed separately) and they both have pros and cons. This one is better off the water I would say. It is spacious and there are cubicles for changing so give some extra privacy if that bothers you. It's also better for small children to be kept entertained (although you do have to pay).
We found this one ess exhilarating on the water, with less exciting things to play on and bigger queues for them also. Let's go Hydro equipment also felt a bit older and not quite in as good condition. Both were fun but for me personally if I have to choose one for action packed adrenaline the other one is better. This one may suit groups with a small child that can be kept entertained. You...
