I don’t usually like leaving low reviews but I haven’t been impressed on my visit today. I have been a few times before and although expensive I’ve never been disappointed. I ordered the “steak & eggs with chimichuri” and the eggs were over done and the toast was soggy and burnt. It was expensive coming at £17 for the meal and an iced coffee. Even though the food wasn’t the nicest the reason I’m leaving a low review is due to the reaction I’ve had to the food. It’s given me the worst stomach (with all accessories) and even 12 hours on I’m still not right. I’m not sure if it was the coffee or the steak but I believe it could be the chimi churi as I can imagine it isn’t something that is often used on menu items so it could be past its best! I don’t have issues with food and hadn’t eaten 16 hours prior to visiting so it’s definitely the food I’ve eaten here, very disappointed as I’ve had to cancel plans and it’s not how I like to spend my Saturday!

Great House Barn is jestled in the picturesque countryside, this historic venue offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. The barn has been beautifully restored, retaining its original features while incorporating contemporary touches. The exposed wooden beams, stone walls, and high ceilings create a charming and cozy ambiance that is perfect for any occasion. There's also parking facilities, making it convenient for visitors. One of the highlights is its idyllic location. Surrounded by lush green fields and rolling hills, it's a great place to start or end your walk within the area. Overall Experience: Very nice breakfast. Staff were excellent with timely service. Can get busy but turn around is good. Lovely places to have a walk before or afterwards. Definitely recommend.

A lovely old building that houses a cafe/restaurant and ice cream parlour. Seating inside and out. Around 10 flavours of ice cream to choose from. Friendly staff, toilets available and a free to use medium sized carpark, that can get very busy. Getting there early is recommended. The centre is situated next to the Rivington countryside ranger station that sells art and craft items and also next to a Go Ape centre. The tea rooms and shop is surrounded by beautiful woodland and near to the large Rivington Reservoirs and River Douglas source. Lovely place for long walks to take in all the beauty the area has to offer. Great place for solo, couples, families, etc.

We come here often, mainly for a cup of coffee after a walk around Rivington. It's an incredibly popular place no matter what day or time you go. Popular with walkers, bikers and dog owners alike. The food has always been good there and now does table service both inside and out. It is a little on the pricey side but no doubt that is due to its very desirable and popular location. The restaurant/cafe also has a takeaway section for desserts, tea/coffee and cold drinks and also has a nice little gift shop if you are there and needed a last minute present or card for someone. It's doing very well currently so hope it doesn't change!

Visited 05/05/2025, arrived just after 9.30am not realising opened officially at ten, however super helpful gent on reception checked with chef and allow our group to be seated as kitchen was ready ahead of schedule - fantastic We took both tables 1 and 2 inside and then were seen to promptly, efficiently and the drinks and food came quickly. The dishes were tasty and would definitely coming to the Great Barn House for the atmosphere, food and drink especially before taking in the walks in the surrounding area Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Visited today for lunch after walking to the Pike and around the Japanese Gardens. Sat outside (bit chilly bit without coats we were happy). Lovely menu options and reasonable prices. The staff were as friendly as always - you're always met with a smile and pleasant conversation. We ordered a pot of tea, a flat white, a chicken salad sandwich with a mug of soup and sweetcorn fritters with salmon. It was delicious and the portions are a good size. Lovely place and we will continue to return.
