Visited 05/05/2025, visible from road at side facing the building, however if you approach from of parish building entrance you cannot see until you walk around to the back of the building (left path is best) luckily we saw some people and asked as the sign at the front says to go around side but your but sure as it looks like just a closed church type building with cemetery at front.

Once around the side to the tea room there is plenty of outdoor seating was available, we went inside saw a lady at till and she said recommend grab a table first and then come to order and luckily table 9 near to the log fire was free (the majority of inside tables were taken as the tea room was very busy throughout our visit) and managed to squeeze out party of 7 by adding a free adjacent chair from another table (thank you to the lovely senior couple who said it was ok to do so as they didn’t need it).

The toilets are outside to side of building and there is only one for women and men so when I visited there was three people waiting so I’d say if this is a consideration get this out of the way so not waiting too long.

The ice cream was lovely and tasted more home made than commercial, would recommend. The majority of the order which was drinks came quickly, due to how busy the tea room the dessert pudding with custard ordered had to be chased as others who arrived after were getting their whole hit orders before, when one of the group enquired unfortunately the till member of staff was quite snappy /dismissive stating we told you would take time due to busy, however this considered the tone/delivery left the member of our group dissatisfied after all else was good, hence the one star drop. Still recommend visiting but be conscious of potential factors above when...

After sampling the delights of other local cafes in Lancashire, I stumbled upon this very quaint and traditional looking 'victorian village hall' establishment that announced it was serving breakfast with tea and coffee, so I popped in to see what it was like.

The setting is almost like that of a time displacement where you feel that you are travelling back to the a time when tea was served in bone china and one would commonly associate afternoon tea with finger sandwiches and macaroons.

What you will undoubtedly love from the outset, as I did myself, is the fact that nothing is too much trouble for the lovely staff who work at the Rivington Village Green Tea Room... whatever you want, however you like it, they will do it for you.

The honky tonk piano man rouses everyone to a joyous plateau with classic renditions of some lovely lighthearted tunes including "When You Wish Upon A Star", "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and the unforgettable romantic theme from "A Summer Place".

Free refills on coffee and tea are a sure way of keeping their already massive customer base excited as no other high quality tea room locally offers this service. The food is to die for... the breakfasts are really big and prepared fresh by Jade.

It's just a lovely relaxing place where you can go to share a coffee and have a chat, read a book or simply just relax and forget the world for an hour... and yes, dogs are more than welcome!

Get in there when you next pass or visit Rivington. I am the only testimonial...

Very quaint old fashioned tea shop but with service like a truck stop thought I’d walked into a Karen restaurant.Rude person taking the orders and serving drinks at the till gave us orange juice served in a mug to go with a breakfast when asked about a glass was told a curt No!She was very unfriendly and miserable but we persisted despite Karen’s attitude and then we were introduced to the male version who served the breakfast calling out the order numbers like a bingo caller who when we enquired why there was no fried bread which was inclusive on the breakfast we were told they had run out of fried bread🤣🤣last time I looked fried bread is definitely made of bread or am I mistaken? So when we enquired about an ash brown instead was told tersely that would be extra an charge and in all honesty people with us who had ordered an hash brown didn’t even get one but we had given up then didn’t want to cause more confusion.Lovely old church venue and the food was really good and great value but service is always key to me and sorry but it fell well short there felt like the service didn’t match the...

A busy tea room in a converted church in Rivington. I've been coming here for years and it's one of the best places for value for money. We had a delicious vegetarian breakfast of; 2 veggie sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, fried bread, 2 fried eggs, 2 slices of toast & butter and a cup of tea or coffee all for £6.50. Lots of seating inside and some outside for nice sunny day's. A favourite stop for cyclists and walkers. Also allows dog's inside. Local artists work on display inside. Oh I must also mention the wonderful homemade cakes, delicious with a cup of tea or coffee.

Just posted photos of the new menu and prices. Still the best quality at the best prices by miles. This tea room is fantastic. Great atmosphere in there and 2 woodburners make it warm and comfy after a cold wet walk. The food is excellent too with a good choice. They’ve spent a lot of money on the Bowling Green tea room a short distance away but not letting dogs inside rules that out for us, as well as many others I know. You can’t go wrong feasting here. Very dog friendly too.
