Escape Erin Escape Reality Edinburgh was a wonderful experience that I’d recommend to anyone with a knack for excitement, problem solving, and team building.
My girlfriend and I booked The Asylum a few days before our return trip from Edinburgh, and we definitely had a wonderful time. Stephen took us down to the starting point, went through a quick tutorial of the different locks we would experience, and showed us how to use the tablet that shows your time counting down (as well as features a way to get hints within the rooms). His briefing set the stage in such a wonderful and exciting way, and once we started our time, we were off! Between the two of us, we worked together to solve the mystery to escape the asylum alive!
It was so fun, we had asked for another room, which luckily, they had an opening for us. We chose to take on Alcatraz, a much harder yet still awesome experience. This one made us really have to think hard in order to accomplish our escape, which was done with barely any time left. Definitely something to challenge your team.
We got our pictures taken after we finished, and the assortment of costumes, accessories, and signs made that fun as well. If you have to wait a little while before your room, there are little brain storming games to play, as well as an assortment of drinks and snacks prior to entering. They also have some gifts to buy that are priced fairly. There are free lockers for your bags and phones, and restrooms to use prior to being locked in for up to an hour. The venue was easy to find, close enough to walk to the Royal Mile, and it was clean and spacious.
Thanks to both Stephen and Alex for their professionalism, encouragement, and friendship during our visit. We will definitely visit again if we ever make our way back...
Read moreWe did our first Escape Reality room 3 years ago - Asylum. We thoroughly enjoyed it, although a part towards the end of the puzzle hadn’t been put back together properly so we got confused (but still managed to escape). Upon informing the staff we were offered a free room the next day. We returned and did Nosferatu. We thoroughly enjoyed that room as well, although this time a door was malfunctioning and we got confused again (but still escaped). The staff checked and profusely apologised. We were given a free polaroid which we still treasure. We wanted to come back ever since but didn’t get around to doing it until now. We were told that Alcatraz starts in 2 separate rooms but weren’t quite braced enough for it yet, so we did Tortuga. We were given an introduction upon request and managed to complete the room with 16mins left (we are both in our early 20s).
You receive a tablet in the beginning which shows your timer and allows you to scan hints in the room (we didn’t need them at all). You can also use a switch on the wall to call a member of staff if necessary.
Most puzzles involve padlocks or similar locks, which we didn’t mind at first, however since visiting other escape rooms we have noticed this is a bit repetitive here.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experiences at escape reality Edinburgh and are looking forward to our next visit. The staff, particularly, were lovely as well. One of them remembered our visit three years ago as well which shows how uncommon repeated malfunctions are.
You can get dressed up or hold sign for some free digital photographs at the end. Additionally you can get polaroid photos for...
Read moreMe and a friend decided on a trip to Edinburgh for a birthday celebration, and I just want to say that our game master Lillie made the unbareable 11 hour coach trip absolutely worth it! Me and my friend had never done an escape room before, and we obviously chose the theme with the highest difficulty. Did we escape? No? But did we get to shake a rubber hand and join a cult? Yes. Lillie was very patient with us even though we kept interrupting the brief every 30 seconds, and we ended up not understanding a thing. Our results showed it too, with only 4 problems out of 12 solved in 60 minutes. We do hope for every mistake we made you weren't battered black and blue Lillie, you were an honour to the trio team, especially when we unlocked a door without realising for 15 minutes; though we do blame the door smacking my friends head for that. Despite not finishing the room, we were walked through the rest of the game, and we were still allowed to witness the ending, Siobhan greatly thanks you for not sacrificing her by pew pewing her. We had an absolute blast with tears of laughter, and we would love to return again. We don't know the name, but the guy who greeted us at reception was a credit to the company too! An absolute laugh and gave us a huge round of applause for completing what we thought was the first escape room... (it was just a locker room for our bags and coats).
Keep it up team! You guys were great.
For Lillie; We are sorry we didn't dress up on the day, we hope a photo from the night after can suffice, we tried to copy the mannequins, and we also understand this is now on...
