We pre booked this excursion as with everything now I'd recommend booking in advance. Upon entering the zoo you wouldn't have thought there was much to offer but definitely wrong. As soon as we had parked up we encountered two camels, mother and son let's just say for adult purposes it was entertaining. This side of the park was where the gardens were with all the beautiful daliha's on display in their full glory. Unfortunately we didn't get a glimpse of the bears but apparently they are here. There only seems to be one or two of each animal but I guess that's enough. To get to the other side of the zoo you have to cross over the road. There's a cafe/restaurant, ice cream shop and gift shop at this stage. Followed by a lovely little play park for under 5s then a few big slides and two zip wires. Even the adults in our party thoroughly enjoyed these. They have 2 beautiful tigers. The views from the top part of the zoo were absolutely stunning! If nothing else these were well worth the visit. This end was where the penguins are who take a walk daily if they chose to to visit the public, this is all cornered off at certain times of the day. Also the monkeys they had a few youngster who were very entertaining. We spent most of the day he and didn't find it difficult, we didn't see all of the animals as they weren't out or just didn't get to see them. Really lovely day out

Great zoo, we visit every time we stay in Wales as it has some quirky aspects that make it different from others we've visited. We love seeing the penguins out and about for a walk and feed across the field and the bird displays. We also enjoyed watching the sealion talk and explanations of how and why they train certain behaviours. The snow leopards now have a new enclosure since we last visited but due to a new baby in there we didn't get the opportunity to see them. We did however get a great up close experience watching the brown bears eat their breakfast which was fantastic! The zoo is always very quiet but has the most amazing views of the ocean. Great if you like walking too, but uneven pathways and terrain for pushchairs or wheelchairs. Only scored 4* as this time there was quite a few enclosures closed or inaccessible (lemurs walkthrough closed. Petting zoo area empty apart from 1 bunny and some ducks) We also took the long walk down to the red squirrels but the pathways were closed upto the tigers as well as unable to get to the pine martins and birds. The tiger enclosure and crocodile house needed some clear maintenance too. It's a shame as this zoo is normally really good.

So if anyone reads my reviews is aware I always try to be as honest and constructive as possible to given an honest opion and for people to try and use it to make a good judgment. so this was a very hard decision to score it 3 stars however I feel very warrantied. This is a fantastic zoo and day out and always remains one of my favourites. However its clear its struggling and lacking in a lot of care attention. Quite a few of the exhibits are shut and look like they been left for a long while which has only lead to its decay more. The grass in places is getting really over grown and the grounds are in need of a good general tidy up and clean up. The bins in places where over flowing which was a real put off and gave the final rating. (Picture taken as justification). This leads me to wonder if staff shortages. It was only midweek but id dread to think if was a weekend. They have some great animals which wouldn’t normally see at a large main stream zoo which makes this place special and keeps me returning however it really does need that extra push to keep it in business. I donate as well as paying the entrance fee as believe they do need extra help to keep it going however seems to be something be hide the scenes that’s leading it to need some much loved attention. Please don’t let this place slip anymore in standards.

Went here for a family of 4 day out, booking in advance online saves you alot on the gate price and gets you in a lot quicker expecially on the weekend with inexperienced staff taking their time to process gate bought tickets. Once in the there is plenty of parking if you get there early however can get a little congested if you leave it a little late. The Zoo is currently undergoing some good changes and renovations to the Cafe overlooking the lion enclosure, but still has plenty for adults and children alike to see and enjoy, with a smaller cafe, park and gift shop at the centre of the park which the kids will enjoy. A full day is recommended as there is alot of walking to see all the enclosures and shows are at certain times and days, so make sure you check online for when these are so you aren't disappointed upon arrival. 1 Star 🌟 dropped due to ongoing refurbishment and some of the area such as the seal tank looking a little tired, however all attractions are charity funded so, don't forget to donate upon departure or add a gift aid on line. Overall good day out for the family, a beach trip after in Llandudno may also be recommended for those who get round quite quick.

When we arrived all the animals were hiding away and it took an hour before we saw anything other than an emu, horse or deer.. (Hence 3 stars)Even the penguins were in a corner!. However once the animals did show up it was lovely to see 2 new baby chimpanzees, a baby camel and although we didn't see it,there's also a baby sea lion. Its been a over a year since I last went and they have done the zoo up quite a bit,it looks a bit more upmarket than it used to.The kids love the park there and I noticed they are still adding things to it. Ice creams for the kids are around £3 each so be prepared if you have a big family.I had been considering rejoining the zoo for the year but unfortunately I didn't feel this visit proved it was worth the fee. Shame really as before COVID I'd been a member for years. My advice,Bring a picnic if you're going as it is overpriced, especially when on a budget.my mum gave the children £5 each for the gift shop but there wasn't much for sale at that sort of price so they got the ice cream instead. Also if you go early, start by the reptile house as everything on the other side was hiding til nearly 11 so it will give you time. Have fun.

We had an amazing experience during our recent visit to Welsh Mountain Zoo. The whole family thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The zoo is incredibly spacious and houses a wide variety of animals, allowing you to get up close to most of them, even being able to touch some. It's a perfect place for a leisurely walk, especially when accompanied by kids. The zoo not only offers a fantastic animal viewing experience but also provides additional amenities such as a cafeteria and a play area with swings for the children. The kids had a blast playing there! The only disappointment was that we couldn't catch the tigers in action as both of them were fast asleep. Nonetheless, seeing the majestic pairs of tigers was still a beautiful sight, even if they were asleep. Without a doubt, Welsh Mountain Zoo is worth every penny spent. Compared to other zoos in the country, it stands out as a top-notch destination. Our family purchased a family ticket, which turned out to be slightly more cost-effective, and it definitely enhanced the overall value of our visit. If you're looking for a place that both kids and adults will love, this zoo is a must-visit.
