I went to the Birds of Prey Experience today and it was amazing! The staff member giving the experience, Charlie, was very, very knowledgeable about birds of prey in general but also specifically about these particular birds. He knew everything about each one of them including their likes and dislikes and what type of mood they were in today. He clearly spends a lot of time with them and cares for them like they are his family.. He was very entertaining, The birds were beautiful of course and well looked after. The area was clean and tidy and a shelter was provided to get out of the burning sun. Beforehand we were advised to bring drinks and wear suncream. Health & safety was good - we had to walk through some shoe cleaning solution to stop the spread of bird flu and were provided with the special bird handling gloves, which were all in good condition. The group wasn’t too big and we all got a turn to hold each bird and to then, in turn, have the largest bird fly and land on our arm. The experience didn’t feel rushed; we had lots of time to spend with each bird, and had the chance to ask questions and have them all answered. Amazing experience! 100%...

Visited open day in August - got lost trying to find center which had no signage whatsoever. We missed the bird handling which was only on from 10-12 - difficult for those whose have driven from afar to get to, but with the hot weather we can understand why no more handling was allowed. However, the displays were very poorly organised, no PA/loudspeaker system so we couldn't hear a thing over the constant airplanes, even when the crowd was shouting that they could not hear. Also, due to the crowds, we couldn't get anywhere near the arena to watch birds from afar. Staff could have asked spectators to move down to allow children to get in to see. Flying displays could also do with more seating and more cover from the sun. My niece was sick with the heat having to stand in the sun, unable to see. This was a birthday present for my brother and he was unable to get near to any birds to take photos, and couldn't see or hear any of the displays. Bit of a waste of time. I think we would have appreciated an itinerary and maybe some fans for the birds on the hot day. This all being said, I could not fault the wonderful staff who seemed knowledgeable...

Me and my partner attended the owl experience for the first time here and unfortunately it was not what we expected. Firstly the area is crazy hard to find because there are no signing into you pull into the car park, as the sign is actually hiding behind something else. I asked when I booked if the experience was in groups in which they replied no more then a handful and when we arrived there was 16 people crowded in a tiny steamy canopy outside in the rain which would of been fine if the tent was spacious and we had seats. My partner had to constantly bend his neck down making him feel unwell, and the whole experience was standing for 2 hours in a crowded tent, unfortunately we ended up leaving after 40 minutes due to it not being what was advertised. If I was aware it was going to be a huge group activity I would not of booked it in due to being claustrophobic which is why I asked about how many the session was for. Such a shame because the first two owls were absolutely gorgeous but I wasted more then enough money on something I did not enjoy and won’t be returning to this. Nice and friendly...

Owl experience (booked via Groupon) for two 9 year olds - brilliant hands on experience, fantastic value for money. Booked this experience for my daughter's birthday for her and her friend. More than 2 hours worth of owl handling with 12 other people, The girls favourites were the Eurasian Eagle Owl, Little Owl and the Barn Owl. All got a good hold of each of the birds and got to fly one of 2 owls. I also paid £10 each for my sister and 6 year old son to come in as spectators which was a much better experience than I thought it would be. As spectators we weren't able to hold the birds but could take photos and learnt all kinds of interesting information from the falconer who hosted the group, about all the different breeds. Would recommend wellies/boots as was a bit muddy and lots of snacks for children spectators (there are picnic benches you can sit at and watch from). There is also a cafe next door (didn't go in as shut at 4.30pm and our experience went on until 4.15pm). Can't wait to go back and visit the whole centre.

Did one of their experience days with my Dad this weekend. Fantastic day. Learned a lot and enjoyed being able to hold the birds. Highly recommend a visit! I think we’ll go back to see the other animals at the centre on one of their open days if possible. A slight heads up, one of the flights of the birds involved having an owl fly to you and being able to hand feed it some raw chicken. The chap did ask if anyone wasn’t comfortable with touching the raw chicken piece. Normally I wouldn’t be comfortable without immediately washing my hands (which would have been impractical) but this was not my first bird of prey experience so I was prepared with sanitising hand wipes. But it was good of them to check everyone was okay with it. Just something to consider if you’re going to do an experience and are a bit icked out by that part.

My wife and I have visited here before and its great we would highly recommend coming here for the Open Days or an event / experience which varies in time e.g 20 minutes 45 minutes etc where you have the opportunity to interact with the animals and ask the keeper questions about them, we had the Skunk event on this day where we held 8 week old Skunk kittens and took loads of photos it was great and educational and very smelly the kittens kept on spraying lol its best to book in advance for these smaller events which are advertised on the web site or on Face book. There is a great cafe on site and a small garden centre which we recommend both worth a visit, there is Blue badge parking near the entrance and its a large car park, toilets are available on site near the cafe.
