A fantastic Garden Centre, largely lovely staff, everything immaculately presented. Selling everything from plants to clothes to shoes to fish to art and much more...... Not all the typical things you find in most centres either! Well ahead for the forthcoming season already compared to others (spring bulbs, autumn and winter bedding etc). The food offering was outstanding for a Garden Centre. We all left full. A two course light lunch with drinks cost about £15 a head. Presentation and quality was good. Table service was basic. We live over an hour away but I'd have been happy to have driven two hours or more for everything on offer here. If you love Otter or Gardens Group you'll really love this one. It's one step up on Gardens Group and far better than Otter. Smart but very reasonably priced. ...........My only grumble is the placement of a customer bin inches from an outside restaurant table. Full of dog poo bags and other visitors actually put poo in it while we ate!. Very inconsiderate. We have a dog and took her with us but have more respect for others than to behave like that. We moved the bin a few feet and clear of the fire escape (all of us are or were business managers). The bin stank, attracted wasps and other insects etc. We hope their management will find a more sensible permanent place for it in future. A manager, or so we suppose to be so, asked us not to move the bin but we objected. She was a bit abrupt. "You can't move that bin". She then asked "did you exit from there?" meaning the fire escape. We said "yes", because it was wedged open already. She said nothing more, shut the fire escape and walked off with a flea in her ear. One for Karen's Diner. Another manager then used the bin to wedge open the same fire escape. You've got to laugh. Despite this minor inconvenience we had a great time and we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStaff rude to family with autistic child. I was so Angry at what i witnessed. There were 2 or 3 young girls and 2 order women. It was very clear that they followed the lead of one of the order ladies who was not afraid to show her staff how to be rude and sarcastic to the the public. They had constant huddles to laugh and talk badly about a child and family. We were a group of 7 adults with 3 children and 1 child being non verbal autistic. He would indeed keep going up to the biscuits and wanting them, the family members taking in turns to run after him. He did at one point manage to get hold of a tempting biscuit and at this point the staff became even ruder with the order lady taking the lead and her onlookers learning form her. The family paid for the biscuit, as demanded by the lady, although they would have anyway. They were made to feel like bad parents and left the soft play immediately and went to complain to the centre manager about the treatment they received. The grandmother of the group wanted to explain to the staff that actually the little boy is autistic , which was very obviously, the lady responded ' well yeah but kids need watching don't they'. It was just so rude and very strange behaviour, like the lady was trying to be an example to her onlooking colleagues but being so rude and sarcastic. The family have been numerous times and have not had this problem before. But I can guarantee that we will not be paying to be treated like that again. A real shame as the soft play itself is very very good. It is expensive in comparison to puxton park that we had been to the day before. Staff very very rude and unprepared and lack of compassion for families with autistic children. Garden centre manager however was really nice, understanding and disappointed in the treatment...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreChanged a lot since I was here last. Two choices for eating, Kipling's Patisserie or the restaurant where the old cafeteria was. Ate in the new restaurant, it now has extra seating inside and out (covered). Also has a new conservatory room to the right of the restaurant. Seating outside has 2 seat and 4 plus tables, rattan furniture with high back chairs with comfortable cushions. Food is table service, after you have made your choice from the full menu and paid at the counter. Food is very good, panini, sandwiches etc come with salads and crisps etc. Burgers come with chips etc. Everything we had to eat was very good. The shopping inside is of a high standard, no rubbish tat to be found! Still refurbishing some parts, but everything is to a high standard of goods! Five* all round!
Returned today 23/8/22 to Cadbury Garden Centre Overall I would still give the store 5 Stars ššššš! However the food in the restaurant was bellow par, and I could only give it 3 stars ššš Pork sausage roll with honey and mustard was inedible as it was sooo dry, if it had been noticed, and I'd known what it was, there were plates left on another table with the same dish, left also!! The cream tea, the scone was cold, too big and very, very dry. A much smaller size X2 would I feel be better and would avoid the dryness! The staff are, as before, very good, coping with a full restaurant at lunchtime, no lengthy wait for food, however, I'm sure they must notice what has been left on plates and maybe pass that on to the restaurant manager! Disappointed this...
