I am so glad i went for a month only as i wanted to pay for an entire year.
So first of all i paid on 10th of August expecting to get a month of gym/pool but to my surprise i went to the gym today on 2nd of September to find out my membership expired on 1st of September. So apparently if you pay for it on 20th of a month it will expire on the 1st of next month and still charge you full price. BUYER BEWARE. I didn't see it in the documents i signed and no one pointed it out to me.
Second reason is the lack of cleanliness i mean its ok, serviceable but barely. I think the peak moment that made me want to quit was when i went swimming. I was changing in a changing stall and midway through the process i start feeling a foul smell like someone took a dump in a stall close by. And it continued stinking when i came back from swimming, so people do that... in the stalls.
Another encounter with bad behaviour was at a jacuzzi. I wanted to go there after the gym (yes i let staff know what time i would attend the health suite) and there were 2-3 people there speaking russian/slavic really loud and you just couldn't stand there with them as they were obnoxious and had no regard for others.
I think the service is deemed the cheapest compared to other places this is why you get low quality individuals around. But it isn't so this is my third point. If i come here a couple of times a week i need to pay for parking per month an extra 7-12 quid depending how often i come around. If i get the year one off payment it ends up to £27 + £7-12 not really feasible is it? Considering there is a premium gym at holiday inn with £33 per month if you get the 1 year one off payment and parking is free.
Then the pool availability. Even if you can come any time actually the pool won't be available to you, i came at 18:28 on a Thursday, entered the pool and at 18:30 i was told to get out. So beware of timing. I have a very busy schedule so i come when i can. Unfortunately they couldn't fit my schedule but there is also no way to know so you can plan ahead.
Then the gym and pool are busy even at 6AM or 8PM doesn't matter those places will be packed. Which is a good thing, it means people do care about their health but i kind of expected it to not be at those early/late hours so i can get a breather.
Do you enjoy to get robbed/scammed the same way you do in 2025 by big corporations? Now coming in your neighbourhood to you day to day facilities and services. I haven't been scammed this bad since nvidia gimped me with vram and sony sold me a ps5 that i later found out you can't use online without subscription... Forget those big corporations now you can get scammed in your own neighbourhood by small business or your own council.
I am not coming back here out of principle and advise others not to. My mum is visiting this week and planned to come with her a few times to the pool but guess you guys will have to miss out on customers. When my kid will be ready to play in the pool i will prefer driving 40-60 minutes to other cities to find suitable places, again out of principle, you scam me ones that's enough to ruin your rep...
Read moreI am beyond sick and tired of the swimming pool being cold, it's not a comfortable temperature at all, and when swimming, I feel cold; if you look into the reviews on google maps, you'll be able to see that I am not the only one who feels this way, that along with not being able to swim in a straight line. Instead, even though I know I am a slow swimmer, I can't swim in the slow lane because of the children and teenagers taking over that space diving and cannon-bombing. At the same time, the lifeguards are too focused on trying to mock sign language by gesturing to each other, which is just offensive, especially to deaf people like me. I cannot just decide I want to go for a swim. Instead, I do need to make a reservation which is fine because then it means I would be able to have at least space to swim, but rather, what tends to happen is I'll reserve the health suite so I can get changed and then after swimming in the cold pool I can then jump into the very lukewarm jacuzzi that is very high with chemicals and causes discomfort to my eyes. I have also to use the health suite carefully because a few customers like to add their menthol chemicals which the staff hasn't checked and add an unknown amount of it, and it's so uncomfortable I can't even use this unless it's early in the morning or very late in the evening which is an inconvenience to me. The health suite reservation times are inconvenient too because if I reserve it for the health suite wrongly think I can use the pool during that time. Still, I have to waste half an hour waiting for the countless swimming lessons in all four swimming pools or if the gala competitions are happening. Either way, the pool is unusable regardless of what I do, and the health suite shouldn't be called a health suite as the facilities are inadequate.
There is also the gym which is equally as disappointing; I have found that due to the teenager sessions, which were meant to be supervised, really are not, instead what happens is you'll have a lot of them taking over machines or taking over valuable space in the core workout areas and on their phones or trying to chat to one another leaving full paying members such as myself to wait until they were done before being able to use the machines. The staff are not supervising the teenagers and often chat with other teams behind the desk. I've even had occasions where teenagers told me to move because they wanted to use the space even though I was there first. A lot of the machines as well are very outdated and do not offer the same features as modern exercise machines do, such as synching up with my smartwatch or being able to blow air into my face while I'm exercising; I am aware it's meant to be a feature but take a look at any of the treadmills or cardio machines and take a look at the vent that is intended to blow air, it's filled with dust and dead bugs which are not pleasant while...
Read moreI would love to share a positive review of the facilities at Corby pool. Unfortunately I can't - because on arrival we and our two small children (3 or 4) were not able to access the place. I very much realise that in these days you need to pre-book a lot of activities. I tried calling Corby swimming pool several times (and not exaggerating I bet its at least 8 times) in the preceding days - nobody ever answers the phone, and there is no facility to leave a message. I checked the website and there is no mention anywhere of needing to book for swimming pool sessions. I therefore assumed AS THERE IS NO WAY TO BOOK, that we didn't need to. Turned up well ahead of the 1pm children's swimming session today to be rather blanky told by the hoity toity reception girl that we can't come in as we haven't booked. When I asked how exactly you were supposed to do this, I just got an uncaring shrug. Had to then tell the excited little one's we couldn't go swimming after all - which resulted in lots of tears. Speaking to the desk manager - he admitted it doesn't say anywhere you need to book unless you are a health club. So a public municipal pool where you cannot book unless you pay, because there is no other way than by doing so from behind the pay wall on their website. Although we cheered the kids up with a trip to the park and some ice creams - we tried (I believe) everything we could to book and it was...
