An absolute must! I love history and creative minds and this was perfect.
I was met with incredibly friendly staff and then a lovely lady called Antonia showed me around. Antonia was very knowledgeable, showed me some of her favourite pieces and even had a personal story on why she is so passionate (if I remember her grandad worked as a glass maker?)
I spent about an hour here reading all the information and admiring the beauty in each piece.
I was particularly blown away by the Chris Day exhibition. The art was powerful and moving especially reading the stories behind them.
I also loved Madeleine Hughes Plastic Beach, such a creative mind!
At the end, I went to the gift shop and purchased a vintage glass bowl which had been donated. The gift shop is very well priced and I would recommend looking here if you're looking for some beautiful glass items!

Read moreWe really enjoyed our visit to the Glass Museum. The displays are really interesting and informative and the glass collection is wide, focused on local firms but with some ancient items and items from elsewhere in the UK and Europe, and some of the items are very beautiful. Older items are on the ground floor and more modern items on the first floor. There are some fascinating interactive displays probably intended primarily for children but some, particularly the glass design displays, are most interesting for adults too. There is also a workshop demonstration which shows how little methods have changed over the centuries in the making of hand-made glass. The staff are extremely interested and helpful - all volunteers too. The museum is new and still evolving and completing and cataloguing its collection. I wish it a very successful future, which...
Read moreMy husband and I attended a champagne tasting event at Stourbridge Glass Museum at the weekend. We were greeted with cheese and English sparkling wine, locally produced, followed by 7 champagnes served in glasses donated to the museum from all around the world. Cheese and nibbles, a quiz and various competitions with prizes made the evening just that little bit different. We were also able to look around the museum at all of the amazing exhibits from yesteryear and also contemporary glass, some of which was produced in the museum’s own hot studio where demonstrations are made during daytime opening hours. The museum is a charity and all the staff at the event had volunteered their services for the evening. They were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the exhibits. A fun filled...
