Lovely lake in Ellesmere. There's a nice linear walk that takes about 25 minutes along the side of the Mere and into a wooded area. You can do the return walk in under an hour. Facilities include a pub restaurant, ice-cream parlour, sculpture trail, children's play area, boat hire, fishing and toilets. There's good carparks beside it, that cost £2.30 for the day or free between 5:30pm and 8:00am. If you like walking you can do a 2 hour 30 minute circular walk along the Mere, on to Welshampton, along the canal towpath and back into Ellesmere (you find the walk on the internet). Ellesmere is a pretty village and worth visiting for a meal and walk around.

Such a lovely place. A nice slow stroll with the dogs, with friends or as a family. A small hut that sells ice creams & drinks. But if you fancy a more luxury sitting then I suggest the boathouse (also dog friendly). There is also a pub called the red lion which is also dog friendly that also dog meals so your fur babies aren't left out for lunch. Just a few minutes walk you will find Ellesmere town - be sure to take a look it's a great place.

What a fantastic place. Nice walk around the mere, wheel chair friendly lots of wildlife life, wonderful trees 🌳 and a great playground for children to play in. Grab a coffee ☕️ and sit back and relax. Just be for a moment or two in this crazy world. Sit and watch the world go by. Well, worth a visit, you will not regret it.

Ellesmere mere is nice to visit and the walk through the wood and children's play area are great for families. The best think about Ellesmere though is that there are multiple walks and meres in the area to choose from so there really is no need to suffer the busy days in the summer. Several canal walks and meres are just a short bike ride or drive away and have views to rival Ellesmere. They do not good though so you'll need a picnic especially if you...
