Petes Sandwich Bar — Restaurant in England

Savoury items (rolls, sausage rolls and pasties are delicious) but,.... the sweet things are really bad. Style over substance. They are all gigantic but tend to be just insanely sweet and no actual flavour. I've tried the odd sweet thing over the years and it's always the same so I won't be buying anything sweet again. A coffee cake that doesn't taste of coffee at all, just super sugary, and worst of all it was sooooooo dry. The cakes are so big/thick slices that it's impossible to eat any of the buttercream from the top in the same mouthful as any of the cake from below the top 3rd. I'm glad at least my cake was only 2 tiers, a lot of them are 3 tiers and I can only imagine how dry they are. I think they could do with going back to basics and concentrating on making a great single layer cake that is most and tastes of what it's supposed to rather than making them 3 tiers, each layer the thickness of a brick with entire chocolate bars, or in some cases, slices of other cakes on top. And no it's not just a one off. I've had biscoff flapjacks that don't taste of biscoff, just sugar and are huge and stodgy. Also a "brownie" that when I got home, wasn't a brownie but a piece of regular chocolate cake (that was dry again) that was baked in a tray like a brownie. Our first time visiting Ellesmere itself which is a stunning traditional oldy worldy town. Stumbled across Petes. What a gem!!

All the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, decor is stunning and the food was incredible.

We went and had food by the lake from Petes but I must add the atmosphere seemed very friendly and welcoming based on the short time we were in the shop due to an incredibly efficient service.

One of our boys is very selective in what he eats which is usually a nightmare for us however nothing was too much trouble!

Highly recommend the tuna pasta as basic as that sounds, it was like no other! Very fairly priced and portions were more than generous! Environmentally friendly packaging also which is obviously the way of the world now.

Car parking also right next door so no hassel from that point of view!

The Customer service is excellent staff are very helpful and always will go the extra mile to make sure the customer is happy.Always a large range of food on offer eg baps cake saugage rolls dawgs, salads,cake pies veg & meat hot & cold and full English Breakfast

The saugage rolls & dawgs at Petes cafe are really superb the meat is the best a lot better then places like Greggs and places a lot for what you are gettting

The Breakfast at Petes is excellent providing the service of choosing what you want on the plate not like most places you are given just standard breakfast and ending up paying for something tthat you are not going to enjoy at all
