Brooklands is the perfect place to bring children with bikes and scooters or anything else with wheels. There's a large 'racetrack' you can follow but there's also a huge bitumen area they can use which encompasses a basketball/football pitch and a skate ramp. There's also a 100m track painted on the ground too. A new 'natural woodland playground' was recently added as were toilets but these often seem to be out of order. The original playground is situated by the carpark and fenced off, there's enough in there to amuse smaller children but apart from one of those huge teepee rope climbers and two swings, there's not much for older children. It's great for taking dogs for a walk too as there's loads of room for them to run around but I'd caution against letting your dog off it's lead at busy times if it doesn't come when called; I've seen a few incidents between parents and owners where children have been hurt/scared by overly rambunctious pooches and seen some picnics ruined. During school hours Brooklands is mainly filled with dogs and smaller children tend to be within the playgrounds - there's no fence around the woodland playground. There are a few picnic benches but bring a picnic rug just in case. There's a wooded area with paths that you can walk through that follows the River Wey and the old racetrack banking, it's not long but it's peaceful and is ok for children to take bikes or balance bikes around. There is also a longer walk which takes you around Brooklands Museum and Mercedes Benz World which has recently been paved. The carpark itself isn't overly big and is often full at the weekend. There's almost always an icecream van there on weekends but there's a huge Tesco, M&S and Lidl across the road, so plenty of options for food if you get hungry and forget to bring anything. Well...
Read moreIn theory this is a great place to go but is often spoilt by selfish people and the lack of maintenance.
Main tracks are great for cycling, skateboarding, scooting and roller blading but they are in need of some maintenance (especially the track directly in front of the car park). Also, despite all the surrounding fields, some idiots find it necessary to walk their dogs on the tracks. Another problem people riding fast around with electric vehicles.
The 100m running lanes are great, but need cleaning and maybe respraying. The main problem here is when parents randomly stand in them and don’t control their kids so that other people can’t run in them properly. Why, when there is a massive area with nothing going on in it do they have to stand there? It’s almost as though some people have nothing better to do and are so self absorbed that they don’t think anyone else matters.
The play area needs a lot more installed but the wooded play area is great.
The skate park could be a lot better and how about building a pump track for skateboarding and BMX riding?
There is usually enough parking but can get very busy at peak times.
There also needs more toilets built. The existing ones are inadequate and...

The usual swings , seesaws, skating rink of different styles as well as climber rope structures are in excellent condition. But the main attraction for families is the picnic spot meadows. Cool and plenty of space where it won't be crowded at any chance as the place is vast.
The climber and crawler with slides play area is across the meadows which can be visible from car park. Older kids will enjoy the time.
If you want to enjoy RC motor or RC helicopter or smaller drones , this place is enough space for that too. Have seen a few people doing this on a regular basis; never tried myself.
If you wanted to walk through woods, listening your music , do not hesitate - it is cool and comfy. Dog trails behind the woods are neat and clean.
Clean and cool photogenic stream is accessible if you go around the woods. Nice photo spot but a bit slippery in rainy days. I have been visiting the place for last 5 years - kids love it.
And now there is an ice-cream van and food truck available...
