Nice open local space with playground for youngsters. Good for picnics on the grass and fortunately most of the local dog owners are responsible about recycling poo (but not all alas). My kids sometimes come home with their bicycle tyres less than ideally fragranced. Not sure park rules insist on leashes and some yappy dogs can be intimidating for smaller children so beware. Some interesting wood sculptures in the beds. Occasional FREE festivals and events sponsored by Medway Council are with a visit. NO CAR PARK so is a bit of a problem although it's near to bus routes. Events are carefully arranged not too clash with Gillingham football dates which always attract car parking problems. Most other days, you can park reasonably easily. Just check home game dates if you plan to drive and park but these are hardly every day and time you'd be there. Little bit of rude teen yobbery around the swings and under some of the trees, but only a bit of colourful language. My kids never felt unsafe or threatened here. Footballers and other game players don't intimidate. There's plenty of room for all and well mannered behaviour Certainly a nice open space and good for exercise, walk or run. Lacks a cafe or ice-cream Parlour but the ice-cream vans are always in the street...
Read moreA very lovely local park, with plenty to offer the kids for an hour or so. A large open grass space, a fairly decent play park (suited to younger children, or older children, not so much available for this aged 4-7 I'd say, but still decent. Unfortunately there are lots of teens/adolescents that visit and can cause damage from time to time but likely to find that in most parks at times. The added touch of the wooden animals/insects around the park makes a visit there a bit more substantial. My kids enjoy finding all the creatures and can spend an extra hour doing another lap of the park playing on them. During winter, the grass gets very muddy from all the football and other games played on it, but that's what it's meant to be used for! Really popular for dog walkers but never had any issues with dogs on or off leads. People have always been pleasant. Overall, we consider ourselves incredibly lucky to have this park round the corner. Especially when it's wet and my kids can enjoy all the huge puddles... Or when it's sunny and we can have a picnic on the grass with the ice cream man parked...
