Would of given 5 stars. The food was excellent, no criticism what so ever on the chef who clearly is a outstanding cook. Before i badger on about my main point. The menus which we picked up were disgusting. When the world's just gone through a Covid pandemic, surely hygiene and cleanliness would be priority no. 1 ? The tables and chairs were OK though. I picked up some menus from a nearby table when nobody saw and they too had not been wiped down. These were washable menus as laminated. The choice of seating reserved for our meal was disappointing. Think it may of been the owner or head waitress who greeted us. Only myself & my partner. First there at 5pm in Ela Kendro, empty. Was told they would have a full up restaurant in the next hour (this was correct) Unhappy with sitting literally against the bar, no exaggeration here I can assure you.. Asked politely if we could move further away, this was provided but only after it being pointed out they were completely busy for the evening. Our new re-seated table was improved but far from perfect. Crammed in the corner by the window, making it tricky to get out if you required the restroom. I'm not a unreasonable human, I get if i was the owner, I'd want to maximise on the capacity space available in the room. But surely the last 2 couples who arrive in evening should be the ones who sit at these tables, not the first who walk through your door. And what made it more interesting/frustrating. 30 minutes after being here. 2 guys walked in off the street, had not booked (heard them say it) they were looking for somewhere to eat and Ela Kendro looked good from the outside. Ela Kendro did not say they were booked up, they got seated at a table with 3 chairs around it !! There were also some booths at restaurant, over the other side. 1 of those definitely had just a couple sitting at too. Perhaps I'm sounding bitter and resentful, but I believe if a restaurant business wants to receive 5 stars then its about getting everything correct. Being seated like we were last to turn up when we were first made it feel like other later arrival bookings had priority over us. Perhaps most were locals, who knows, I'm just speculating. Its a shame because the food was incredible. The lady who seated us and then re seated us was not our waitress for the night. I, being of greek origin, along with two close friends, frequented Ela Kendro last night for the first time. You can antisipate the dining quality when you are informed that it's a genuinely owned Greek restaurant........! But wow, it simply took me back in time to family gatherings back in Cyprus !! Both I and my friends couldn't fault the food, service or the atmosphere!!! The owners son personally waited on our table and simply made us feel like old friends! (How do you do that??) One of the waitresses was greeting us and she told us that we could only sit at this table near the bar that was very small and cramped in a corner. This was when the whole place was near empty. I asked her if we can stay on a nicer table near the window. She pulled a annoyed and sour expression and literally said "Oh my god". She then stormed off to the rest of her colleagues all hiding in a corner. I went to speak to her nicely to clear the situation up. I asked her how can she be so rude to a customer just asking for a table. She continued with her attitude like she owns this place and her excuse was she said "Oh my god" to herself and she didn’t even apologise.
