This is a 3-day show and to be honest you need 3 days to see it all. One of the days you could just sit at the side of the main ring and watch all the Spectacular things going on, but choose wisely as different days have different things. You can see most breeds of farm animals here and their owners take this show very seriously, as to win here is a great thing to achieve. If you're not into farm animals there's still loads to see and do. In one area of the showground there's beagles, Hounds and terriers being shown all on different days, so once again if you wanted to see a specific thing make sure it is on that day that you go. You won't be disappointed, as there's something for everybody. The food halls are very tempting and there's lots of things to try and buy. All the stalls are set up along roads, so if you have a wheelchair, or a pushchair, it would make it easier for you. It isn't all on one level though, so it could be quite tiring going uphill, but there's also plenty of places on the flat as well, so don't be put off. There are lots of different demonstrations going on all day every day and even lots of things you can join in. There's a section to do with the forces. You can do target practice, assault courses find landmines, even have a go inside a tank and it's all for free. My boys spent half a day in this section and didn't really want to move. I had a go at the soft air target shooting and it was great fun. The Northern Powergrid was another good one for children to visit. There was lots to do like crafts, circuit building, free face painting and they even came away with PE bag each with some fun stuff inside. While they were having fun I was relaxing with tea and biscuits, again this was all for free (thanks Northern Powergrid I needed that cuppa). All in all it's just a fantastic 3- day show.

If you haven't been before,

Disgraceful arrangements to get visitors to the show this year. We know there is development on the showground but this should have been made clear on the booking site.

We were directed to a car parking space in a field at the top of the hill ( right outside the proper entrance) We had to walk DOWN the hill then up the hill to the showground. Too far and too steep for 0ver 70s . We were quite cross by the time we came to show our pre booked tickets. Then the ticket authorisation machine rejecterd out tickets! We thought we were gouing to be asked to pay for more tickets. Anyway a sensible man allowed us through . ( we wernt the only ones with this problem).

We had a nice afternoon at the show and bought lots - meanwhile wonderring how we were going to get our purchases up the hill and back to the car. There was NO SHUTTLE bus! No buggies for older people!.. In the end against the advice of the stewards my husband drove our car down the hill and we picjked up our stuff.

We then joined a 30 minute queue to exit the showground.

Quite frankly never again !! There needs to be better arrangements for older people getting to the ground. If there is an access issue then it should be made clear on booking tickets.

Just cross GRRR...

My Family and I travelled to the Great Yorkshire Show from the South Coast...."NEVER AGAIN"....The Toilets were closed at 2pm in the Afternoon because the "Showground" had "Run out of Water....Men, Women, And Children were Pissing around the Back of Tradestands....especially near the Black Sheep Beer Tent....There were at least 20 people Urinating at the Rear of the Blacksmiths Demonstration Marquee at any given time...the Blacksmiths had to move everything from the Back of their Marquee.....When Stewards were asked about the Problem, we were told to take it up with the Show Office, as it wasn,t their Problem... To add insult to the Situationon the following Day, the urinals in the Gents toilets "STUNK" to high Heaven....and even though there was an Attendant present, we were told that the Floors would not get washed as they were trying to Conserve Water...... My Wife said it was a very Distressing time not to be able to use the Toilets.... I have Telephoned the Show Office and was told someone would phone me Back with an Explanation after the next Meeting. To date I have not had any Phone Calls..... I will never go to the Show...

Me and my family went yesterday (13th July) to the Yorkshire show, fantastic day wide variety of activities for the children. Lots of store and loved that Yorkshire water had set up water stations to fill up your water bottles...however they was in awkward places and not always the closest to where you was. They is also loads of toilets around which was really handy. Food was fab wide selection of different types of foods. Lots of animals to see and animals rings to see the horses and cattle. Absolutely love the hounds always make sure I go on the day they're there! I arrived at the Yorkshire show at 8.10am and I was parked in the field opposite the gold Gate so I didn't have far to walk. However those arriving very later in the day had to park in fields alot further away with quite a walk, so I would recommend you going at an early time. We also took a picnic bag with sandwiches ect to eat throughout and then bought something hot in the afternoon which helped alot as children are always hungry. Highly recommended.

Absoloutely loved the Yorkshire show. It was so big did not manage to get round it all. Will definately visit again next year. This is probably my 4th time at the Yorkshire show and it never fails to exceed my expectations. So much to see and do. Food hall is great, huge variety of cheese, cakes, alcohol, pies, Greek cuisine, confectionery, there's far too much to mention. Things can be abit pricey but it's to be expected at these events, however I always go on a Thursday which is sale day so lots of reductions and bargains around the show and some lovely items to buy. Tickets are £35 each and you have to book in advance. You can't pay at the gate, but beware it can sell out quickly. The care and attention to the animals is excellent. You may get to see some faces from the TV like I did as I bumped into Julian Norton from The Yorkshire Vet and stood chatting to him which made my day. I will be at the show again next year just because I love it.
