Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent there a last weekend for what I believe it was the first edition of the Harrogate CheeseFest.
Nothing wrong with the location itself, plenty of toilets and room for everyone, but the organisers did a really poor job in sign posting and helping people find their way on the very extensive grounds.
Once we've got there, the event itself was alright, I especially liked the Cheese Waffles and the Raclette stands. The huge scones from the Game of Scones looked but didn't taste great.
The choice for ch33se was limited overall and a couple of things were missing:
I haven't seen any hard cheeses (pecorino romano, grana padano, parmigiano reggiano) or freshly made cheeses such as mozzarella, ricotta.
Instead there was a large choice of blue-veined cheeses which isn't everyone's taste.
Prices were significantly higher than the supermarket equivalent even for the most common of the cheeses, which I found disappointing.
Drinks wise there was a good selection:
Wine Not, Lucky Beer, Toffee Vodka and another stall with really flat, bad-tasting cider.
I guess some might say that for £5 entry ticket you can't expect much, bust still this experience didn't convince me and my friends to be...

There are plenty of rides for kids under (about) 7/8 and my (almost) 5 year old went on them all by himself.
There are about 5 'bigger' rides which would suit older kids, including dodgems (you can take younger kids on with an adult, but the bar was at a bad level for my boy - for him to hit his face if you get a good bang, maybe when he's a bit taller he'll fit in the car better) waltzer, and a few others that made me dizzy just looking at.
Visited each time the fair has come over the last year and my son has always had a great time. Last few times we've visited it hasn't been busy, so straight on to everything. Went once when it was busy so you were queuing for most rides, especially the bouncy castle - there's no way to know if it will be busy, so you just need...
