We cruised up the Great River Ouse or Ouzel today on our boat Codie one. The weather could not have been any nicer as we navigated through some of the most picturescue places the county of Bedfordshire has to offer, from Bedford Priory marina. As part of the Inland Waterways #silverpropeller challenge this our first location to visit and the closest to us. Kempston Mill is steeped in history from the Doomsday book of 1066 during the Norman invasion up to it's demise in 1968 when a great fire tore through it while the landlord was away in Balboa, up until it's redevelopment as a residential premises. Fittingly our river cruisers make is a Norman Conquest! Also the prospect of this location being the new junction to connect the river to the Grand Union Canal is fascinating to me as I can see this being extremely beneficial to the three counties financially and...
