A very interesting experience. The food was great but very slow. The starter took 45 minutes to be served, only 3 of the 6 eating ordered starters. The main course was quicker but still slow. The waitress staff were excellent. Friendly and good at their jobs, they can only bring food out when it is ready. Given we were all happy with the food, a 4 star review was on the cards. Then the Landlady asked what we thought of the food and it all went wrong. The feedback from us was food was excellent, but to be honest, slow coming out and at least two tables came in after us and were served well before us.Her reply, well the waitresses are new. When I explained the waitresses can only bring the food out when the kitchen have cooked it, her reply, I dont see your point (its straight forward, if its not cooked the waitresses cannot bring it too the table, the problem is in the kitchen not with the waitresses) . On tables getting served before us she explained apparantly the chef will make a decision and if there are only 2 people on a table and there is 6 on yours, the chef will make a decision on who to serve first. I pointed out the table next to us had similar numbers to ours and had mains before we had starters . Her responce, well shes one of our chefs,she probably pre-ordered. I asked how we could get to preorder, no reply. She then further explained its a difficult business to work in and its hard to get it right (interesting). And further explained it is very busy, we pointed out the empty tables which suggested it wasnt too busy and she explained there were tables out the front as well. (yep there are and the whole time we were in the pub there were two people at the front tables, neither were eating). So, in summary, we enjoyed the food, the waitress staff were excellent but the food was very slow to arrive. What ever you do, don`t tell the landlady if you think things could be improved, you will get excuses and a bit of attitude thrown in for good measure. In true Four in A bed style, would we eat there again? yes, good food, good real ale good service from the waitresses once the food is ready, it was just the waiting time and landladys responce which soured the experience. My friend had a chilli and he said it had no āzingā to it and left most of it. Highly disappointed as I was recommended to this pub. Needless to say neither I nor my friend will frequent this place again.
I have just read your reply and itās not factual, I complained to your waiter and he said how about a round of drinks, ahh no thanks I said how about a refund to which, instead of saying Iāll speak to the manager said oh well youāll have to speak to the manager. How can I upload a picture of this lamentable meal? Ok I found out and have uploaded. The photo shows what was left of a steak which I tried to chew but was impossible, really nasty.
I have just re-read your reply which includes this snip, āAs all avenues of rectifying the issue for you werenāt appropriate l (including a refundā and it is a total lie! Your waiter offered us drinks but as we were both driving we refused and asked for a refund that's when your waiter said you'll have to see the manager. We waited for the manager to come over but as we were very pushed for time we had to leave. I will keep adding to this review
I am very surprised in view of the feedback you have from me (and my guest by proxy) that you havenāt reached out to me to offer a full refund or a meal for 2, everything comped but that just shows the complete disregard you have for your patrons. A year later and still no proper apology, your establishment is a disgrace. I wonder if you still serve dogs dinners?

Ā Ā Ā Read moreOnly gave 1 star as there is no option to leave less! Ruined mother's day for 3 generations of mums. Booked a table for 4:15pm. Arrived a little earlier and told the table was not ready yet, fair enough we got a drink and waited. Went back at 4:40 to find that two parties were waiting for the same table, to be told by a member of staff (who in fairness should have finished her shift over an hour ago) that one group could have that table and the other could wait for one to be cleared. We took the table and went to order food for our 22 month old son, as his was the only meal we could not pre-order. Whilst waiting at the bar we observed two groups complaining and getting refunds. We were then told that the pre-orders had messed up so we would have to re-order. I asked for my deposit back as we would go elsewhere. After a wait, and the poor girl who should have already left phoning the manager who was conveniently not there, I was told I could not get my deposit back. I left, but shortly returned to give an amicable solution of me getting a bottle of prosecco to take, to have with the take away we would now have to order. The assistant manager was already in a dispute with another group who refused to pay their bill as they had been waiting nearly 2 hours for the meals. They were regulars and stated they would not be paying and left. I cannot blame them and the attitude of the 'assistant manager' was dreadful. He promised he could over ride my refund no matter what, and then basically handed me over to that same poor girl who should have already gone home. Real shame as it could be such a lovely local pub, but I would never go back as this is our 3rd terrible experience trying...
