Godshill Model Village, located on the Isle of Wight, is a delightful attraction that offers visitors a miniature view of quintessential English countryside life. Nestled in the picturesque village of Godshill, the model village beautifully replicates the surrounding area, with intricate details that showcase both the architecture and the natural scenery of the region. Visitors will be charmed by the meticulous craftsmanship, from the tiny thatched-roof cottages to the miniature gardens bursting with colorful flowers.

One of the highlights of Godshill Model Village is the scale accuracy and attention to detail. The models are built to a 1:10 scale and mirror the actual buildings and landmarks in Godshill, including the iconic All Saints Church. The experience feels immersive, almost like a time capsule, giving a glimpse into traditional English village life.

The surrounding landscaped gardens enhance the experience, with carefully tended shrubs, bonsai trees, and water features adding to the tranquil atmosphere. This makes it an excellent destination for families, garden enthusiasts, and history lovers alike.

In addition to the impressive models, the site offers a tearoom and gift shop, where visitors can take a break and purchase souvenirs. Overall, the Godshill Model Village is a charming and unique experience, perfect for a peaceful day out, especially for those looking to explore more of the Isle of Wight’s cultural and...

I visited here with my mum last week as part of a five-day holiday to the Isle of Wight & had very high expectations as it had been recommended to us by family members.

The entry fee to the village was £6.50 which I thought was very decently priced followed by a reasonable (& optional!) £1.50 for a very detailed guidebook to look through to enhance your experience during your walk through it.

The only thoughts going through our heads when walking round were at how detailed each & every piece of the Model Village was; the time, effort & detail which had gone into it’s production was astounding at every corner & even at the end of your visit, you felt like you hadn’t seen it all yet. We went on a day with glorious sunshine so that made all the unique features of this venue stand out even more!

The hunt for little red squirrels which were scattered around the premises on some of the models enhanced the visit a little bit more for us, so much so, we had to walk around again to ensure we spotted them all! It befuddles me to this day how there are 28 but we only managed to find 10; nevertheless, it was a fantastic addition.

If you’re reading this & debating whether to pay a visit to the Model Village in Godshill, go ahead! I like model villages as a whole but this one really did heighten my expectations & I would like none other than to pay another visit when I have another holiday in the Isle...

A Charming Step Back in Time at Godshill Model Village, Isle of Wight

Our visit to Godshill Model Village on the Isle of Wight was a delightful journey through time and miniature marvels. Nestled within the picturesque grounds of the Old Vicarage, this hidden gem offers a nostalgic glimpse into the past. The meticulously crafted scale models of Shanklin and Godshill villages, as they appeared in the 1920s, transported us to a bygone era of quaint cottages, cozy pubs, and charming churches.

Exploring the intricately detailed replicas of real buildings in 1/10th scale was a treat for the senses, with each structure faithfully reproduced to capture the essence of traditional English architecture. The beautifully landscaped gardens provided a serene backdrop for our stroll, adding to the overall ambiance of tranquility and charm.

One highlight of our visit was the captivating garden railway, a miniature snapshot of the Island Line from yesteryear. Watching the tiny trains wind their way through the scenic landscape was a joyous experience for both young and old alike.Godshill Model Village is truly a retro find, offering visitors a quintessentially English attraction that is both nostalgic and enchanting.

Whether you're a history buff, a railway enthusiast or simply seeking a unique outing, this charming village in miniature is a must see destination on the...
