Beautiful little tucked away cove. Dogs allowed!! Parking may occasionally be a little difficult to find because it's on a residential street (no designated car park) but is often pretty empty, and free, of course! Once parked, taking the little alleyway between two bungalows leads onto the SW Coastal path, then further, across a quaint railway bridge which spans the Paignton - Kingswear heritage railway. It then opens out onto a sloped headland which is brilliant for dogs, and has benches to rest on with beautiful views of Torbay, as well as information boards with notes about the geology of the area and what it would've been like hundreds of millions of years ago! Beyond the headland, down the slope, is a railed stairway leading to the cove. The stairs are somewhat steep but do provide some grip, so slipping is less of a concern, especially in dry seasons. Once in the cove, which is very sheltered, a little beach leading up to steep cliffs meets the gently lapping waves with rock pools and when the tide is out, access to the coves either side around the cliffs.

Secluded pebble beach away from the crowds. Access is via a reasonably steep set of steps from the coastal path above, just don’t expect any shops or toilet facilities. Dogs welcome. The information board at the top of the steps paints a dramatic picture of live here 280 million years ago… zoom in on my photo and take a look!

Lovely secluded cove, steap steps, inaccessible by pushchair, some rock falls but worth a visit to see the clear still waters. Worth seeing the steam railway train pass under the bridge at the top too!

Nice secluded section. Mind the steps though. But I found it a great place to go if you wanted a bit of peace and quiet to appreciate the sound of the waves and a nice view.
