So we visited today for tea after our visit to Splashdown. Upon arriving, not greeted by anyone at all. Made our own way to find a table to be told 'we have nothing inside at all' all the while there were three empty tables (needed clearing) right behind her. We sat ourselves at one of said uncleaned / dirty tables, expecting 1 of the aprox 30 members of staff to come clear and wipe it down. Nobody did, so after 15mins waiting, we cleared all dirty plates ourselves and my partner went and found a cloth to wipe our own table down. We ordered our food which was a 15min queue wait. When the food came, my sons meal was missing a side. On the kids menu, it states "pick 2 sides" , my son LOVES corn on the cob and chose 2 portions of those instead of peas or chips. 1 portion came, when we asked for the missing portion, we were told that the kitchen manager said no. The menu states 2 sides with the £4.99 kids deal. My partner ordered the 8oz steak with side salad and garden peas. The peas were vile. They tasted of mud and were bitty and hard. Just grim. Burgers tasted lovely but clearly the chef has no knowledge on how to cook them because they were so dry and hard to get down. No burger sauce on any of them which is what it says comes on all burgers. No sauce on any. Had to add our own. Not once did any member of staff come to us and ask if everything was okay with our meal or if we needed anything/ more drinks. No plates were cleared before OR after or meal. We sat finishing our drinks/kids eating pudding over empty dirty plates. Terrible service. To top off, went to the loo and one of the cubicals toilet was full of brown stuff. Looked like someone had just exploded their bowels and no staff were in a rush to clean it. Would not recommend. Spent £80 in there and wish I'd spent it in the Splashdown Restaurant. Do not waste your money. It looks lush from the outside, the garden outside is lovely but that's about the only good thing I can say about this place. SUCH a letdown & gutted at the money wasted. Wanted to treat my elderly gran on holiday and was just so disappointed. 3/10 for the lovely garden...
Read moreWe arrived 10 mins later than booking time dye to traffic. 7:55pm, yet still told we had to wait for our table to be cleaned. 8pm we siit down and given food menu. 8:15 our order is taken, with no drinks menu we just ask what is available during the order. 8:40 our food arrives. We see no staff from 9-9:15 whatsoever to try order second drinks & ask about desserts. We knock on kitchen door, no answer. We walk up and down restaurant, no staff. Then we find a male staff member talking to some customers (possibly friends) sround the corner from us and he must have been there for almost half hour as we hadnt seen any staff (3 adults on our table) since before 9pm. Then another waiter came to take our order for drinks and dessert we received by 9:30pm now. To be told we all need to be out at 10pm ofcourse, which we were aware of and exactly why more frustrating to be waiting so long for sone service! The same waiter we found talking to fmcustoners for a long while cane to take our card payment and upon asking if everything was alright... we replied the food was lovely but the service was poor unfortunately. He asked why and we exolained wed felt neglected for long periods with no one to grab their eye to order more drinks or check if we were okay at any point as we would usually expect in a restaurant. He simply replied we should have come and found him round the corner... there was no explanation, no apology and no respectful manner toward paying customers. Poor attitude, poor service and wont be visiting again any time soon. Also no car park voucher given to us we had to come back to request this when it should be customary to hand out parking vouchers upon payment. Easily avoidable issues tonight. Left at 9:55pm sunday night and many outside tables were still filthy and full of dirty dishes with serviettes on the grass and cutlery scattered about and used glasses everywhere. Clearly a short staffed day or poor team ethic, either way meant we had a disatisfactory experience for spending...
Read moreWith its great location we expected this to be a nice place to eat. Came in on a Sunday evening at 8pm, as a sign outside indicated that seagulls might dive for your food we headed inside - also driven by the fact that a lot of empty tables outside had glasses left on them. Inside was a sign pointing where to wait if you wanted to be seated. So we waited, and waited, and in the end had to flag someone down. We were told then to find our own tables and weren’t given any menus which we had to go back for. After looking round at a number of empty reserved tables we found one big enough that had been cleaned….. or cleared should I say. Food all over the floor was so disgusting I couldn’t sit there. We walked around the pub to another area and found one where someone’s dog in a pram was right on the end of the table to had to sit there, plates eye level with a dog. While looking for a table we walked past trays full of dirty plates left on the side, next to tomorrow’s breakfast prep for the morning. The kids meals came out pretty ok. We ordered a sharing platter between 2 for some of the adults and I wouldn’t go as far to call it a platter as it wasn’t particularly big. All of it was cold or tepid. Only the mushrooms which were full of water could be considered warm. You also don’t get given plates to share this onto, so mushroom water all over the table! The onion rings tasted funky, like they were old or maybe had been frozen badly. Neither of us could bring ourselves to touch the very dry looking chicken wings. Unlike in most establishments when waiters bring food to you, they bring it round and place it in front of the person who ordered it, but here they stood in one spot at the table and just held out each plate for us to take. Would...
