This is a local favorite of my families for meals out and breakfast and so, as we are a large family, we decided to book our Christmas lunch here for the first time as it was the first time the whole family had been together in over 20 years, and the food ruined the experience for me, and I definitely won't be taking a chance here again next year for sure. The food was horrible and for £56 pp I was very disappointed. The majority of the food was under cooked. The gammon looked raw, and I could not eat it, the large fresh carrots where like bullets, not peeled (fine) and just cut (once) in half with some wishful thinking they would cook after being roasted for all of 15 mins, the cauliflower cheese was no better and again under cooked. The dessert I had was a trifle, which was a soggy mess in a glass. Apparently, there was complimentary drinks upon arrival, which we had to enquire about and was told to help ourselves at the end of the meal. Whoever the chef is needs replacing because what your chef served us yesterday was shocking and they should be ashamed of themselves. And as for the customer service, that was pretty much nonexistent. No friendly welcome or goodbye, nobody checked in on us to see how the meal was...just rubbish all round service and we will not be coming back next year. Don't take a chance with a special meal planned and book it here, its 50/50 of what you'll get despite such a lovely setting, it's a shame the food lets this place down.
