Even if you don't plan to stay at the strand the whole day or because you just want to explore more, there is a exquisite range of attractions to visit as well whether it's on the same day or another day which include: Rochester Castle, Chatham dockyard Rochester cathedral, medway valley leisure Park, diggerland Kent or even if you are peckish or looking for lunch/dinner, a few popular restaurants to try could be Spoon buffet and bar, all your favourite UK fast food chains within a short distance (including taco Bell! ) and plenty of chain restaurants which also offer discounts such as taste card, armed forces or Gormet society...
Read moreIn my opinion it's best for families with children. They can run around freely, play, swim and picnic. The drawback was it was a hot day and it was very crowded. I don't know how long it took to get into the pool. I have read reports about the cafe being awful and dirty toilets. I didn't agree with either. Obviously you don't expect five star, but we enjoyed what we brought and there was plenty of outside seating but if the weather is not good l don't think there was anywhere to sit inside. I also entered the toilets with trepidation after what I had read but although not up to the ritzes standards I thought they were reasonably clean. The car parks were crowded and a bit expensive but there is no entrance fee to the strand. There is a good miniature railway, you can walk alongside the water and there is a smallish fair which I think is only open at certain times, cos it wasn't open when we were there. To sum up, despite some reports, I think its a OK place to take kids for a few hours to run around and play games etc. It's been there a long time too. I remember my mum and dad taking me there when I was six or seven and I'm 74 now. The fairground rides weren't there then and the swimming pool was a...
Read moreMy 2 daughters (2&11) and I visited the Lido for the first time today, unfortunately due to traffic we were 2 hours late but the kind lady in the kiosk let us stay for the afternoon session even though we hadn’t booked. What a incredible hidden gem… the parks around the lido are lovely, the little food and ice cream hut just out side the lido serves lovely hot food for such great prices. The lido it’s self is just amazing… on a real hot day it is perfect. The water is super cold which is lovely when it’s 30 degrees out side.it had such a great mixture of facilities from baby pool with slides to changing cubicles and showers. The only criticism I have is the life guard that was on duty by the big elephant slide was too busy tanning and not monitoring the slide, the amount of people congregating at the bottom of the slide stopping the kids from going down was ridiculous. And I don’t think smoking should be allowed inside the lido, as a non smoker I had every ones smoke going over me and my toddler but that didn’t ruin our amazing day.
But other then that the staff are great, the lido is amazing and we will absolutely...
